Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow Details, Progress Report
With all the great games on tap for 2010, it's easy to forget about a few. Perhaps you've forgotten about Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, so we're here to rekindle your excitement and anticipation.
According to Galaxy Next Door citing a Spanish gaming publication, there's new information that includes Hideo Kojima's role in the development process, the title's dissimilarity with other action games like God of War and Devil May Cry, and some specific details about the content. Firstly, Kojima really only has an executive role, so-to-speak, in that he tells the team what he thinks should be improved, although he is supervising the process thus far (like helping out with facial and battle animations). We learn the story will be "different, darker - more mature" than the aforementioned action blockbuster franchises, and that we can expect a fairly deep love story. How it can be "darker" than something like GoW, we're not sure, but we imagine by "more mature," he perhaps means more intellectual. Moving on, we're told to expect platforming like we had in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (use your whip to grapple!), so that sounds promising.
Your primary and secondary weapons are fully upgradeable, relics will grant Gabriel new abilities, and the battle system is more about strategy than "mashing buttons." Right now, the project is about 70-75% complete and the adventure is "playable from beginning to end;" all that's left is to add a whole lot of polish. Oh, and interestingly enough, this game started out as a straight remake of the first Castlevania title that debuted way back during the original Nintendo era. But since Castlevania IV is already a remake, they figured they should move forward. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow will indeed be on display at E3 this year, so expect to see the first gameplay videos around then. We're definitely looking forward to it.

for example stig is the producer of GOW3 but hes also the lead level designer.
producers have multiple roles during development all the time.
another example would be my tafe teacher makes XBLA titles and he was the producer and lead programmer.
anyway im really excited for this, i was really shocked to see it in this months PSM3 mag and it sounds really good.
but than of course it does, its made by konami and co.

A 2D prologue, and then the main game in 3D. Put it on BD, it will sell like gangbusters.

It did a lot of things right, though level gains would have been nice.
Curse of darkness was a big let down except for having Trevor in it. Hector was designed too much like Alucard and the gameplay was kinda bland, good music though.
Here's hoping the new game is sweet and Michiru Yamane continues with great music.
You should check out Castlevania Rebirth on Wii. Fun but set aside at least 2-3 hourse to beat it in one sitting.
