God Of War III Demo Hits Euro PSN

Last week, we heard that a European retailer hinted at the possibility of a God of War III demo hitting the PlayStation Network today.

At the time, we wanted to assume this included the North American region as well but thus far, that's not the case. As you can see at the European PlayStation Blog, the demo is indeed available to download and try today. However, there is no mention of it at the US Blog and we just checked the Store; there's no demo there. It may arrive later in the day but we're guessing gamers in this region will have to wait until next week. If it's only the demo that came with the God of War Collection last year, perhaps some of you won't care so much, but we're still talking about one of the most anticipated titles of the generation. Some early reviews have been sneaking out onto the Internet and besides one 9, we've only seen perfect scores. A demo would also help some gamers ultimately decide between GoWIII and Final Fantasy XIII, which releases the week before. March is gonna be a tough month on the wallet, especially if you plan to pick up the special Collector's Edition for either (or both) of the aforementioned blockbusters.

So anyway, slightly bad news for North America but we'll keep checking the Store to see if the GoWIII demo ends up there later today. If it doesn't, you can always try out the Yakuza 3 demo; it's probably worth your time.

Gosh, I hope they give us an updated demo. The collection demo was sweet, but I want to see more development of the game.

it might be...it's the same size as the older one but it isn't titled as the E3 demo.

when i went to download the demo, it had the already downloaed icon above it, so am not hopeful, so am downloading it on the ps3 slim to see if theres any difference.

Yes, same here. I'm living in The Netherlands. Same demo from E3 2009.

WARNING : if you're also living in The Netherlands and bought Uncharted 2 overseas, the dlc today won't work. It's region-locked!

I do buy a lot online and buy games more overseas (cheaper). If this will be a trend, Sony got lesser buyers on psn, I suppose. I'm not the only one who's buying games overseas.

What are you doing Sony ??

good point i did notice that it would only work on region specific content, i think its got somthing to do with it being for the multiplayer, am pretty sure whenever u buy any dlc thats for multiplayer games it dont work, scratch that am pretty sure any dlc dont work if the game is from one region, but the dlc is from another

I really hope they won't do that with God of War, since I'm planning on importing that one(and save myself 20 bucks), like I did with the collection.
But now I'm not so sure anymore, probably still going to do that though, 20 euros is a lot for me these days, with all the games already out and still waiting around the corner.

DLC bought in one region's PSN always only works with discs from that region. Create a PSN account for the region from which you import and next time you import a game, grab some PSN cards. Most (if not all) DLC is available to all accounts on the PS3 once it's installed.

So far. Even tumbletunnel spoke in English and he is in The Netherlands. Though I think someone in here is from Canada so they may be speaking Canadian. Can never tell with those tricky hockey players eh?

Anyways people from the Netherlands speak French, not a lot I know, neither do I, maybe people from the Netherlands don't speak French.
They speak English though, I think, at least I do, as does Tumbletunnel.

@SnipeySnakey: Anyanyways, yep, the demo is in English, so go and make a European account and get it, like now, it's an awesome demo.
For instructions, check, youtube maybe, yeah, youtube has everything.

Should be up in the US store later today then. Most of the PSN stuff launches a bit earlier in Europe. Hopefully its a new demo. I beat the hell out of that E3 demo that came with District 9 on Blue Ray.

Well since I already have the E3 demo thanks to Beezle I won't complain, BUT what is the big idea with an American made game demoing in Europe first? Trying to make converts from anyone who never tried the series over there?

They are a day ahead of us is all. Most of the stuff Euro gets we a day later. Time difference. Thursday arrives sooner in Europe then it does the US.

I never check on thursday, that must be it. At any rate it's good that people get a taste, would be cool if it measured up to the final product more though, even if it is totally sick.

i suppose since america got the GOW collection and europe didnt, they thought theyd give us the demo, either that or as someone said, theres between a 6-12 hour time delay depending on where you are in europe and america, and you'l get it when the us store updates.

@world, I'm hoping its a new demo. They said the E3 demo was an old build, would be nice to see the latest build but well probably get the E3 demo again in all its badassness.

Now, if only they'd give us the games earlier too, and for 40 euros, which is about the same as 60 dollars, instead of 60 euros, which is the same as 80 dollars...
in a nutshell, we get demos earlier, but we pay more and get the actual disc-based games later...
Now, what would you rather have. Demos of course, so do I *sarcasm, duh...**or is it?*

Oy! I have a Japanese account, a Hong Kong account, an American account, and I suppose I will set up a European account now as well. Albeit I have the demo thanks to FullMetalX I should have an account in all regions for posterity's sake. Gotta future proof myself and all.

I think it's stupid that Sony makes all these different regional PSN's locked for other countries.

We should be able to access all the different PSN's with just our regular PSN ID's, so why can't we????

BTW, does anyone here have some links that shows how to make accounts for "EACH" of the different regions? Myself, I'd like to get a European & Japanese acct at least, just so I could check them out

The European one is easy. Everything is in English. you'll just have to make up some stuff.

The Japanese one, just youtube it. i found instructions there.

Um...I have a NA psn and i saw the demo there in the new releases section when i went to go buy the new UC2 DLC.

BTW my jaw dropped when i first played in the flooded ruins map,there's no words to describe those graphics.

That seems kinda lame that it's an OLD demo so many have already seen. Even though it IS on the US PSN too (I think PSE usually posts what they already know for sure BEFORE most new stuff is actually available each Thu), I do find it rather annoying that they so often seem to put stuff up on the Euro PSN a week or two before the US PSN. Luckily, that's about my only real complaint about my PS3...and it's easy to access the Euro PSN anyway!

I saw this editorial and hopped right onto my prox-euro accnt. named 'fish n chips' (guess where) and started the download. Then jumped to my main stateside account named 'fooosie' and the demo was there too. The euro accnt. was non descript ( though its fun to see what europe's take on us is ) but the USA accnt said 'E3 demo' and I have that one soooooo... I got this a couple months with the GOW Collection. I guess I cant compain.

Waiting for the DL now from europe.

Hope its different, Ill let you know
