Naughty Dog's Wells: GoWIII Is Worth A PS3 Purchase
God of War IIIYou won't find developers of AAA PlayStation 3 exclusives jawing at each other; on the contrary, they really want to support one another.
Take Naughty Dog boss Evan Wells, for instance. Only months after producing what is arguably the best title of the generation in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Wells sat down and played SCEA Santa Monica's God of War III (yeah, be jealous). You would think it'd take a whole hell of a lot to impress someone who oversaw one of the most impressive interactive achievements thus far, but if there's one game that could do it, it's GoWIII. Check out what Wells said over at his Twitter page:
"Finished GOW3 last night! Stunning! No reason not to buy this game if you have a PS3, and if you don't, you should buy one to play it!"
Competition is always healthy, provided those involved are always open to new ideas and are willing to compliment their rivals. And while SCEA isn't really a "rival" for Naughty Dog, they are two different development studios and you can bet they'll cue off each other. Uncharted 2 and God of War III might technically fall into the same category (we'd put one in the "Action" category and one in the "Action/adventure" category), they're two very different experiences. Wells obviously had fun with it; he isn't ignoring what's going on around him. And hey, remember when GoWIII director Stig Asmussen said they were using Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2 as visual benchmarks for his game?
Isn't it cool when they all play nice?

I have also noticed that when a multiplat game is advertised they almost always end it with the Xbox logo.
Seems like the shady dealings we've come to expect from Micro$oft.

Nah, im sure Wells enjoys taking a break from his won projects and enjoying someone else's hard work. Uncharted 2 was incredible, so if Wells thinks GoW3 is amazing i'm sure it is. Im certain its going to be amazing regardless of what Wells thinks, but its always good to hear it from inside the industry.

Secondly I think while the latter may partially be the case, it could very well be (as others have stated as well) that he just very much enjoyed the game.
Basically this is along the lines of what most have already thought and I'd rather they pat one another on the back for titles such as this with genunine flattery, appreciation and entusiasm, which also (inadvertenly or not) promotes others (as well as themselves).

In all honesty; if you look at the top 10-20 Wii games - the highest scoring that is - it really is not a bad system. There are some good I.P's on it, and whilst the visual fidelity will never match that of the PS3, if the game is good, if it's playable and enjoyable and if the games production values are high, you feel money is not wasted and you can actually feel that you have a decent collection of sorts...
If I had a Wii now, I probably would have had quite a nice collection going already... Nintendo has a good pedigree of I.P. and who knows, Nintendo may have the last laugh one day when they release a very power next generation console before we have time to really know what is going on... Nintendo could still be the dark horse to emerge in the coming 5 years or so...
...and in my previous posts, lest us not forget Apple... do you think they are not noticing what Nintendo, M$ and Sony are doing... they could also have a "joker" in the pack!

On a side note I was in one of our gaming stores over the weekend and the idiot behind the desk tried to convince me the FFXIII is an Xbox exclusive and that I should buy a console for that game.... The more I told him it's NOT exclusive the more he tried to tell me not to hate the Xbox and just accept defeat... So I punched his lights out and I'm now banned from the center....
Nah not really but it happened in my mind. I just told him that seeing he has no clue when it comes to the products they sell I will no longer support them at all and I will make sure everyone I know don't support them either.

"Yes it is. They were going to put it on the PS3 but they changed their mind and now the 360 is getting it instead." His eyes light up and I swear I could hear the musical tones of Hallelujah playing out from somewhere.
After I compose myself from a sudden case of laughter, I begin to tell him that it was designed on the PS3 before being ported over to the Xbox. And how it's going to be 3 discs compared to the one Blu-Ray. And how the Sony version will have lossless audio and uncompressed 1080p cutscenes and run at 720p while the 360 version will have 576p cutscenes using Bink video and run at 576p. Again, at last I heard. And various other facts that have already been released and readily available to find. To which the clerk proceedes to laugh at me?? And tells me I don't know what I'm talking about?? And that he works at a game store so he knows more than I do??
So what do I do? I challenged him. I asked him to prove me wrong on all that I have said. I even gave him incentive. I told him if he could prove that he was right and I was wrong, that I'd buy a 360 right there on the spot and whatever games he would recommend for it, and preorder FFXIII for it. If he couldn't prove me wrong, then he would buy me two games of my choice. Pretty fair right?
Needless to say I've been enjoying Heavy Rain and Bioshock 2.

if he were to say GOW3 is a title worth buying a ps3 along with other titles than ok i would agree but thats not what he said.
just like other platforms i certainly want to play alan wake and crackdown 2, but i dont want to play them so much as to spend 400 AUD on the console than 200 for the games.
or even the PSP, i wanted to buy one so i could play syphon filter logans shadow and broken mirror but not enough to spend 300 + 50 for each game.

all PS3 exclusives are worth getting & the console even without games is a best buy ;)
wether it be good developers relationship or marketing strategy it works, i prefer this instead of bashing.
i always lol at some of your great experiences on xbot sales-person, too bad in Mauritius we don't have such shop, it's always like that:
seller: 'what do YOU want, (sometimes we do have some polite to say, 'hello yes!')
customer: FFX13
seller: it's Rs 200 (USD 6.25)!
customer: no i want for PS3
seller: OK, it's Rs 2500 (USD 78.125) then
customer: oooh!
still thank god we have some other DEALERS that sell normal price LOL or we can still buy online (like i do)
well it also means that it's really difficult to find non-copied/pirated PC or Xbox360 games on the island, even if MS is trying hard.
PS3 games still has a good sale & i have a ratio of 3:1 of friends with PS vs Xbox
God of War series is one of the reason i bought a PS2 & later on the PS3, but i've been hit with so many great titles later on like Heavenly sword, Uncharted DF & now with UC2 being so great, i knew was right chosing it.
So yes, God of War 3 is a system seller & can't wait for it!
