New Lara Croft Adventure Will Be A Digital Download
The industry just can't go for too long without Lara. We always need a Tomb Raider of some kind, don't we? A game store without Ms. Croft is just...unseemly.
Well, game stores won't have this new game, so the preceding sentence is pointless. Today, Crystal Dynamics, a part of Square-Enix Europe, has announced Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, a new game set to be released via digital download this year. We can't be sure, but it might be the first Lara game that doesn't have "Tomb Raider" in the title, and the decision to make it downloadable is an interesting one. Said Darrell Gallagher, General Manager of Crystal Dynamics:
"This is a really exciting project for Crystal Dynamics, we have created something completely new and very different to what people might be expecting. Lara Croft is such an iconic character in videogames, with Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light we have created what we believe is a truly original digital experience."
We have no other details on the game at this time - we don't even have the intended platforms or an estimated launch date - but they will show it off "behind closed doors" at the Game Developers Conference next week. Maybe some media and info will leak out of there, and you can always check the game's official website for future updates. Perhaps it's a good idea to enter the world of digital downloads; this franchise has never managed to reclaim the popularity of its golden years and the competition in the action/adventure category couldn't possibly be higher right now.
We'll have more on Lara's new quest in due time.

All these crap will have to be gone with the disappearance of Wada, the man responsible for the fall and derail of Square Enix.

If underworld was just delayed a bit, it would've been 1 hell of a game, i really enjoyed it as it was. I dont want a little mini downloadable game thank you very much when uncharted has shown what can be done.
