SOCOM 4 Announced, Teaser Trailer Debuts On GTTV
Before MAG, Zipper Interactive was a well-respected developer of the critically acclaimed and popular SOCOM franchise. Well, looks like they haven't been sitting on their hands after completing the 256-player MMOFPS.
As revealed over at the PlayStation Blog, Zipper has announced SOCOM 4; the game is currently in development and will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 3 this fall. They're not quite willing to divulge all the details just yet - i.e., setting, squads, etc. - but they can say that a "militant revolutionary has unexpectedly seized control in an important South Asian country." You are part of the Ops Com and your mission will be to command an elite 5-man squad, who must stop this nutjob's insane agenda before he does something rash. You've got only six days and the clock is ticking, so you had best make good use of your time. Yes, this is a single-player campaign but of course, the bread and butter of this series will also return in fine shape- it's the 32-player multiplayer mode that boasts more Special Units forces ever. If you want to get a peek at the gameplay, you'll need to tune in to GameTrailers TV tonight at 12:30 a.m. EST/PST; they'll have a debut trailer for you to feast your eyes upon. Lastly, Zipper wants to let you know that they're not putting MAG behind them; they will continue to support it with updates and more content "for a long, long time" and just because SOCOM 4 is part of their lineup now, that dedication won't change.
So get ready to lace up the boots and move out once more this fall. SOCOM is back!
