"Building Suspension" For GTAV Unveiling Before E3
After learning that Take-Two's Grand Theft Auto IV had surpassed 15 million total sales worldwide, it has now come to our attention that the fifth installment in the acclaimed and ultra-popular franchise may be revealed sooner than anticipated.
According to Industry Gamers, Janco Partners analyst Mike Hickey said "there is building suspension for a pre-E3 GTAV announcement, although we expect nothing from Rockstar at this year's official E3 event." The article also makes a good point of reminding us that GTA simply doesn't need E3 or any large industry show; these games sell themselves, and Rockstar or Take-Two could hold their own unveiling event, if they so chose. Added Hickey:
"We think the next iteration of GTA for console can significantly outsell its predecessor, reflecting on the sales acceleration of the prior cycle GTA console iterations, an accelerating core gamer installed base (with an emphasis on PS3 installed expansion where GTA has historically dominated relatively), and the most talented / motivated development team in the world, in our view."
A GTAV announcement would indeed be huge; the only question we'd have is in regards to the launch date. Previously, it was suggested that we might actually see it towards the end of 2010 but that seems very unlikely now, as most estimates place it during the first or second quarter of 2011. But whenever it's announced, you can bet that it will rule the headlines for quite some time; everyone will want every scrap of information available. Personally, I want Vice City 2, but I know that won't happen.

Video Killed The Radio Star was amazing while trying to outrun the cops in an almost dead car while also trying to complete jumps to earn extra money. But I am more looking forward to a San Andreas stories with next gen graphics.
And please Rockstar, add more cheat codes! The jetpack in San Andreas was amazing! But now with GTA4 the cheat codes are harder to enter due to you have to enter them into your cell phone.
Flying cars, pedestrians fight you, jetpack, oh how I loved the good old days.

I thought 4 would be good because it was back in Liberty City. I was wrong.
GTA seems to be suffering from the same thing that makes Oblivion unbearable to play (for me at least). They just keep cramming crap into the game for no reason. Its like they just want to show off how many useless side missions there are without giving them any depth.

GTA IV was very impressive, but didn't have much in the way of replayability, or even awesome content. I think many would agree the soundtrack was a bit of a letdown in GTA IV. And with Vice City and San Andreas, the soundtrack is incredibly important for setting the atmosphere.
NOW that Rockstar have got their graphics and physics engines sorted out, we may see more in the way of story and content.
I always think of the first GTA for a next-gen console as an excellent test of what the graphics and physics can do. GTA's that come out after that just build and improve on the first's formula.
GTA IV was a next-gen GTA III. It was only a large scale demonstration of what Rockstar was planning to do with future installments.
Personally, I'm hoping for a next-gen Vice City 2, or even San Andreas set in 1988 with Vice City as the fourth city you can fly or drive to. Everyone here knows the blu-ray disc could hold it all.
If Rockstar want to create the greatest GTA ever, they would HAVE to make it PS3 exclusive. It's where all the best games go.
If they're after money, then they'll go multiplatform again and miss out on creating a truly huge masterpiece.

There are so many places that they could use although some could be a bit touchy for some cultures. (I'm thinking like a GTA based around Ireland and the IRA..)
Either way, you know that when more info on this game comes out, two things are going to happen. 1.Someone is going to say that this game alone will be responsible for the downfall of humankind and it should be boycotted, and 2. Rockstar are going to make a LOT of money again.

Plus Rio's Geography would make for some amazing scenery. You could fly a glide and land on top of a building to kill someone, the tunnels and highways there are so dangerous and beautiful that it would be a blast to cruise on them...
Max Payne is in Sao Paulo not Rio, so I think they could still get away with it...

Team Soho, based in London did The Getaway in of course London. I think that makes the work easier, they need to get home to their kids, let's cut them some slack. I feel for devs these days, after hearing the torture some go through, like the recent R* and the just-in IW.

even turning down the color and other settings on my tv it looked crappy.
o and the physics engine is shot, the cars flip like they weigh the same amount as a leaf.
everything about that title screams budget and its a shame because they have spent so long on making it and i was so, so excited for it.
oh well looks like ill have to wait for mafia 2 to get my open world fix.

how can i have fun playing a game when the color is so saturated it hurts my eyes, and i keep dying because every time i go to do a big jump the car rolls or bounces around like a freaking basket ball.
ive never driven off a cliff so i cant say first hand but i think its safe to say if i did so the car would not be bouncing around as if the cliff was made of rubber bands.
get a motorcycle drive it off a cliff and instead of going flying off the cliff you drive off the edge and bounce off the ground than back on off than back on till you get to the bottom.
the shooting mechanics and the winch are really cool, but the physics and graphics engine seriously need some work.
the last thing you want for your game is for it to feel like a budget title, and this is exactly what just cause 2 feels like.
and as i said its a massive shame because its been in development for over 4 years, i love open world games so i had so much hope on this but its let me down.
how hard is it to have a open world game that is fun AND! of high quality?
GTA 3 did it, vice city did it, san andreas did it, saints row did it, saints row 2 did it, infamous did it.
so why cant everyone else?

its only been not even 2 years since 4 hit, are we forgetting the GTA trend?
they always do spin offs before they do the fill increment.
not to mention there still working on LA Noire, Agent, max payne 3, red dead redemption.
they cant make 1 game without delaying it 10 times, they cant make those 4 games without delaying them and R* is a massive studio!
just seems extremely stupid for them to announce GTAV already disregarding the trend of spin offs, there not going to be releasing it for id assume at least another year and a half so its too early.
remember this is not $E were talking about, R* does not announce 10 games than release one than announce 10 and release another one.
they normally announce one delay it than announce one than release one than delay one and so on.

not to mention it just looks bad on your company.
announcing so many games not releasing a single one and delaying the rest.
if the games you have in development are not ready to be released than neither are the other games ready to be announced.
nothing hurts a game more than to announce it too early because than the public loose interest and think its vaporware.
like GT5 i was one of its biggest fans, i was dying to play it and was going to go to the midnight launch.
but now that they have screwed me over so many times ive lost interest and have moved onto other sims.

GTA IV won't release on the PS3 an 360 but on their successors.
Just my thought.
