PSXE Poll Update: Heavy Rain Has An Overwhelming Impact
Heavy Rain appears to be a tremendous success: first-week estimates say about a half-million copies were sold, and gamers have responded with extreme praise.
In this past week's poll question, we simply asked what you thought about Quantic Dream's ambitious, excellently produced title and the vast majority were simply blow away. Most of the rest say the game is amazing but then again, they expected it. Overall, many gamers are currently holding an ongoing love affair with Heavy Rain; they go through it multiple times to see any one of the twenty-two possible endings, and they greatly appreciate the nod to sensitivity and real human emotion. No game is perfect and this one suffers from a bit of technical hitching and glitching but artistically speaking, it doesn't get much better. As we said in our review - linked above - it's not for everyone, as the "twitch gamers" likely won't care and honestly, Heavy Rain is simply too mature and intelligent for some younger gamers. On the other hand, most major critics understood the goal of the game and older players have really embraced Quantic Dream's gem.
This week, there can be no other subject than Final Fantasy XIII. And because you don't have it yet, we just want to know: do you think FFXIII will match your expectations? Or will it be a total flop; unworthy of being part of such a legendary franchise? So many gamers seem split on this issue and it'll be interesting to see where the readers stand...

What was Squeeenix really thinking when they gave XI a series number...?
Now they're erasing a really cool number XIV as well :(
Seriously, it's really dividing the main series into twos, threes, etc.....ugh
PS: I ain't paying no damn fee for no damn MMO. I'd rather play WKC or Demon's Souls (free online)

HOWEVER, with that said and as a guy who played wow a LONG time, i can say that MMO's attract and breed the worst of the worst in a virtual comunity , reason why i will probably never play one again , even worse is that your enjoyment or progression is dependant on said brainless angst filled people that populate afformentioned game's server...
dont get me wrong, i met some simply amazing and beautiful people there too, but my experience is that its usually a not so pleasant experience as just playing an online component of a single player designed game...

As for this week's poll, it really depends on what you expect out of FF13. If you want a game in line with what the reviews have been saying then you are in for a treat. If you (like me) want something a bit more like previous FF titles then you are probably going to be disappointed (from what i read, at least). Neither side is correct, though i am a little sad to the the FF name take a turn like this, but if someone else can enjoy the game instead of me then i guess i'm ok with it.

But personally, I think the game is gonna be a disappointment as a Final Fantasy, but not as a game, get my drift?

But for now, 'Heavy Rain' holds me ever so tightly in it's grip.
As for 'Final Fantasy XIII', I'm going to try my darndest to go in with an open mind, but considering I haven't truly LOVED a 'Final Fantasy' title since 'X' compounded with all the negative things I'm hearing from people who have had a chance to play the game, I admit to being more than a bit wary.

i found a really good website last night explaining all the endings and how to get multiple of them with 1 play through, real massive time saver.
i have to admit the interest goes away after the first play through but the emotions still stick with you till the millionth.
never has a game made me cringe so much after completing a scene.
normally with games if something happens to the character to cause them massive pain you dont feel it at all, but with heavy rain it brought tears to me eyes.
a game has not done that since the ending of MGS4.

HUH????
Why would you even want to defeat the whole purpose of this masterpiece of a game????
I mean come on now, you're able to branch off & experience the full range of emotions caused by all the different pathways, instead of just reading some words on paper!
That's like buying a double-dipped ice cream cone with sprinkles on it.
And then throwing away the cone just so you can watch the ice cream now in your hand, melt away & drip from your fingers till there's nothing left.
Not to mention the fact that you've also done some prior complaining about games being way too short too???
So I just don't get your statement above, at all!

dude can i say anything that wont result in you bit**ing like a fu**ing 8 year old on red cordial?
all i said was i found a site that explains how to get all the endings, and which order to do them in to make things easier.
if you go for the no punishment ending first than that stops you from having to restart from the begining again which would be pointless since everythings the same.
whats the point of replaying the same crap if you dont have to?
sorry for giving some advice and trying to help yals, it will be the last time dont worry.

FYI, I wasn't busting your stones there, I just asked you a simple, but serious question.
And only because I was truly super-curious about why you'd want to skip right through HR when it's such a multi-pathway game?
So, if you go back & re-read your own post, And include the sentence right above it, I'm sure you can see how anyone could misconstrue what it was you were saying, & could have took it the same way as I did.
BTW, what the hell is a red cordial,
(and can I add Vodka to it)?????????

As far as FFXIII goes, I will be waiting on this one. A friend of mine is buying it and I will probably just borrow it from him when he gets done with it. I am not getting my hopes up. I am just going to go into it not expecting much and see what happens. Can't wait for the review.

Are there things I won't like, yeah probably. There were a few things in FFX and FFXII that I didn't like too, but I still consider this one worth the price of admission.

Just read a comment where someone said they had to "give the tongue" to get past a couple of sections.
I thought it was only me!
There was one scene (I wont say where), that I ran out of fingers during one of the more complicated button presses and I needed to use my tongue to press down the circle button.
Never had enough strength unfortunately...
Come on? Some one else please say it wasn't just me and I'm not the biggest noob around...

I expect nothing but greatness from FF despite some mixed reviews because reviewers just don't like JRPGs anymore. They have lost touch with the masses.
