LotR: Aragorn's Quest Revealed As A Move Launch Title
Now that the PlayStation Move has been officially announced, we'll start seeing some compatible software.
Today, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, The Saul Zaentz Company and New Line Productions, Inc. have revealed that The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest will launch for the PlayStation 3 "with full support for PlayStation's upcoming motion controller technology at the controller's launch." Described as a "family-friendly" action/adventure title and based on the films by Peter Jackson and the books by J.R.R. Tolkien, the promising, colorful, hopefully entertaining quest will release in Fall 2010 for the PS3 as well as the PSP, PS2, Wii and DS. Obviously, you will step into the shoes of the legendary Ranger, where you will "relive his most daring battles from 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy." Aragorn can use his sword and bow and yes, he'll even ride about on his horse, so it'll feel pretty darn authentic for the younger crowd. As for the motion controller, we'll be able to try two-player co-op (the second character will be Gandalf) and view our precise weapon strikes - made with our hands and wrists - on screen.
The game will also have the benefit of voice actors Sean Astin ("The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, "Goonies," "Rudy") and John Rhys-Davies ("Indiana Jones," "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy). As fans know, Astin played Samwise Gamgee and Rhys-Davies played Gimli. Lastly, the game will feature music scores from the movies, to give us a real sense of immersion in the epic adventure. Expect to see more Move-compatible software as the year progresses.

Hopefully this game turns out better than the last LOTR game, Conquest I think it was called. I was not a fan of the camera controls and overall game play. I would like to see video of this in action before I really get excited for it.
Side note: just had this thought that LOTR should be turned into a Lego game by Travelers Tales. That would be pretty sweet.

Completely agreed, and it's not necessarily a bad thing. The PS3 needs that kind of game to appeal to that kind of audience. Granted we don't need a mountain of shovel-ware, but the advent of the PSMove controller does bring an opportunity. That opportunity is a whole new audience who have already bought into the Wii control concept. It doesn't mean that the PS3's mainstream audience or games will change, it just opens new doors and brings additional (and different) games to the platform.

Should be same thing as the this, move still has buttons you need to use.
I'm sure most compatible games will allow either controller options, but of course there will probably be a handful that require the move.

i dont know about using the motion controller though, playing the game for a few hours straight waving your arm around.
well that sounds tiring.
thats the exact reason i have not bought a wii yet, well that and i refuse to pay 400 bucks for a non HD console.
id be ok for a short period of time, but for a few hours i dont know.
this is why shooters would be perfect with this tech because all they require is using the controller to aim.
slightly more effort than using a controller but much more accurate and fun.
especially in BFBC2 i was playing it last night and the twitchy response of the sticks is driving me insane!
i cant figure out whats going on, i normally have no problems aiming but in this im getting slaughtered!
oh, on SP i have not touched MP yet.
funny how everyone hated killzone 2s controls found them so hard to use and pull of good shots.
me they stuck like glue i was a marksman in no time.
only wished more games would adopt those types of controls.
come to think of it, thats the only useful thing to come out of KZ2.
