Jaffe Issues Project Update, Poses In Sweet Tooth Mask

Although it hasn't been officially announced, everyone seems convinced that Dave Jaffe and Eat Sleep Play's new game will be Twisted Metal for the PS3.

So this will probably help to reinforce that belief. Check out Jaffe's blog, where he shows off a very cool Sweet Tooth mask that looks fittingly sadistic. He doesn't say it has anything to do with the game he's working on (something about a former Incognito employee making the mask for a Halloween costume), but directly after the pics, he gives us an update on his project:

"Great weekend ya'll! I'm stuck inside tomorrow banging out some more stories/scripts for our game. But I don't mind- game is going well and the stories are fun to write. Plus we are doing all the movie making with the talented video production/services group at Sony San Diego and from the early tests we've seen from them so far, the flics look pretty cool! I think we're gonna end up with some neat-ass movies in this game!"

Okay, maybe I'm reading too much into that, but it certainly sounds like Twisted Metal. We've got multiple stories, which would coincide with the multiple character plots that have always been in the franchise, and there's also the implication that they don't take long to write. Furthermore, there's the video production; I think we all remember the little cut-scenes that accompanied the introductions of our freakish characters in Twisted Metal Black. Oh, and Jaffe is standing there with a Sweet Tooth mask on. Maybe it's just a really big coincidence. Maybe.

Twisted Metal would be great. But you have to be careful with Jaffe, he's full of mischief. Sometimes it seems as if it's April fools day everyday with him.

I may try Twisted Metal for ps3 if that's indeed what he's working on. Never got into it before. I tried it at the insistence of my ex-girlfriend's kid, but he wouldn't cut me any slack. Before I could get a handle on the controls he would wipe me out everytime, so I gave up on it.

i wish theyd put twisted metal one on the store for download! remember the in car views, and sweet tooth had sock puppets on his hands...lol i dont know why they ever got rid of that view. TM1 also had the best hammerhead.

jaffe always wanted to be a film director, so hmmmm...could there be live action movies in this version of TM?

Twisted Metal was one of the 1st franchises that got me into the PS1. GT, FFVII, Resident Evil 2 and Twisted Metal was what it was all about for me in my early Playstation years. Would be awesome to get an HD Twisted Metal.

Maybe it's getting a story and script. If characters can get out of cars, as some people have hinted at, that would fit.

Are you kidding me? I love the twisted little stories that they have in each Twisted Metal. Most of the fun is unlocking each ending just to see how Calypso is going to screw everybody over.

Jaffe also says on his page they haven't decided a format for the game yet either. If it's a new Twisted Metal I would think it would have Sony's support and automatically be disc format. I believe Santa Monica could have made GoW Collection dlc but it came on disc, so why the indecisiveness on a new installment of a series by Jaffe? I think the decision to go disc or not says a lot about the game, the only reason I can think of is they don't think it's good enough to sell very well. That's just crazy.

Come on there have been wayyyy to many lil hits here n there that all point to TM. That mushroom cloud that was on the blog that looked like Swwt Tooth, this current hint and the " in about 8-9 months bitc*'s " comment pretty much gave it away. Just come out with the official announcement already!!!

I haven't played a twisted metal game in a long, long time. I remember really liking it, especially competing against my friends. So I'd love to see a ps3 version come out.

I usually prefer story mode or games which are mainly centered around a campaign mode. Online is just a bonus to me.

But there are certain games and genres were online make said games 100 times more replayable...

Twisted Metal is one of those games which would benefit A LOT from online play.

I really hope it's Twisted Metal

meh, i really dont care what he makes as long as it comes out now.
hes made 2 new IPs and both are among the best playstation has to offer.
