Sony Gunning For October Launch Of Gran Turismo 5?
Last week, Sony boss Peter Dille told everybody at the Game Developers Conference that Gran Turismo 5 would definitely release "before 2011."
Of course, we're going to want to narrow that estimate down a bit, which is why we're interested in the new possibility of an October launch. According to GTPlanet citing an Italian gaming site, a Sony representative went a little further than Dille at last week's conference, and said Sony expected to have GT5 out the door by October. Then there's the "fall" release window mentioned by SCEE executive James Armstrong in February, so October would fit into that estimate, right? Furthermore, with Sony planning to roll out their 3D-compatible line of Bravias (and other manufacturers set to do the same), this will give gamers a bit of time to prepare for GT5's 3D option. It'd be a pricey endeavor but if there's one game that might benefit greatly from the searing intensity and reality of 3D, it'd be Polyphony's driving simulator. Of course, without a wheel it would still feel a whole lot like a video game, so you're gonna have to go all out for the full and complete racing experience. Or, if you'd rather wait on the 3D revolution, that's fine, too. We doubt GT5 will disappoint anyone, even if they've got an old-school standard-definition TV.
We'll keep trying to find more evidence of a narrowed-down GT5 launch. Right now, it seems safe to assume that fall is the proper time frame, and if the aforementioned source is accurate, October is the month.

I'm as excited as I've always been (and always will be) for GT. I'm even looking forward to bashing my head endlessly against License Tests and Endurance Races.
Either way, I'll likely forgo all forms of nourishment, sleep and other outside stimuli, in order to play more when it does launch ;)

I got my original launch 60g for full price. Dropped about a thousand dollars all in all, with 3 games. She's still truckin along fine. And while it annoys me it's as cheap as it is now, I paid a premium to have it right away, and with BC. So, it's not really a big deal to me anymore.
I'd much rather see millions more PS3's on the market, causing more games development...than seeing everyone pay the same price as I did.

This will push ps3 into an amazing holiday season.
It's important to have a big brand game come out at the end of the year so that the console gets that hype.
And with the fact that PD keeps adding more stuff (instead of flooding us with DLC which should have been in the game), they're packing it all into the game.

On the up side, it looks that it's now October instead of November.

The only thing that is still worrying me is the bouncy walls. After Dirt2 with most collisions costing you dearly I wouldn't want to go back to bouncing off the track walls to overtake like in Prologue.
Still got GT in my PSP for my commutes to work. Very underrated.
GT5 will sell a lot of steering wheels and PS3's.

Anyway, I'm sorry for the folks who want it yesterday(and they deserve it), but I'm kind of glad that they're waiting, because right now, there's no way GT5 could even be a thought of as a system seller.
Most store's stock of slim's are now at an all time low until Sony has gotten the production ramped up, shipped out, & on shelves for at least the rest of the year(at the very least), plus even more for the Christmas holiday.

I'd say that if you want to be extra ready (skill wise) for GT5 then yeah, get GT5P
But it's only a very very very early TASTE (big demo) of GT5.
And I'd mostly recommend you getting it IF you have or plan to buy it with a wheel. The controller will give you a hard time in this Prologue of GT5. They fixed the newer GT5 demos so don't worry.

It doesn't have the thrills and spills of Dirt2 or Grid and there is no damage or anything like that.
However, using a steering wheel it just feels "right". The controls are tight and everything is very responsive.
Dirt2 and Grid are more arcadey and in my opinion always feel too "floaty".
Depends though what floats your boat...

Also, GT5P or Full is best with a steering wheel. But the Guy that won the Tanner Foust Time Trial contest over a year ago, his name is Gar529 and he also uses a control "pad" but he will put a beating so fierce into sooo many other racers whether they use a wheel or not, it answers the question of whether a wheel makes you better. It doesn't. It just makes you smoother and a bit more precise on steering and pedal input.
PD did a hell of a job programming the controls for both wheels and controls.
Eitherway, you'll like it.
