Skate 3 Grinds Into Stores On May 11
After the colossal disappointment that was Tony Hawk: Ride, EA has a clear path to take the skateboarding crown with its critically acclaimed Skate franchise.
The third entry has been confirmed for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360; it will launch in North America on May 11 and internationally on May 14. EA's Black Box studio was at the helm for this one, and it features a definite emphasis on team-based gameplay, as well as co-op and competitive online modes. The popular Skate Park editor should also prove to be a definite crowd-pleaser and oh yes, we get an all new default setting for our endless bag of tricks: instead of San Vanelona - the park we had in the first two Skate games - we'll get the all new Port Carverton. It's a "skater's paradise" that gives the player free reign; sort of a contrast to some of the more hostile areas found in San Vanelona. For fans of the sport, quite a few big names will be included in the game to add to the authenticity. You can find the full list and a trailer through the link above but for the record, we'll see guys like Mark Appleyard, Chris Cole, Ryan Gallant, Jerry Hsu, Lucas Puig, Ryan Smith, and Danny Way.
Skateboarding fanatics will definitely want to sign on for this one, even though it may face some tough competition in May. Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands and Red Dead Redemption are only two big titles slated for that month...

i totally laughed at their attempt to differentiate by having the flick-it technology in the remote.
then i downloaded the demo for the first entry. and still i laughed. 3 days later i found myself paying for it at the Gamestop register...
i am quite convinced of it. and planning to buy part 3...

There's ONE thing I expect from Skate this time though, and that's that they get rid of those darn frequent zone/map loading. If they managed that in GTAIV they surely must be able to do the same with Skate. Other than that "more of the same" is good enough...!

My son got Ride for Christmas. He has played it twice. I thought about putting some wheels on it so it would actually be used but it looks too pretty just sitting under my sons dresser. Think I will just leave it there.

I just hope they don't turn this into another cash cow series when the first few are good and then they come out with 10 more un-needed ones.
