Lightning Voice Actor Ali Hillis Speaks, Answers Fan Questions

Regardless of any conflict amidst the fans and critics, Final Fantasy XIII is absolutely massive, as most every FF installment is.

And if you're a fan of the game, and particularly the story and characters, you'll want to hear Lightning's voice actor - or actress - Ali Hillis talk about her experience in recording for the game's protagonist. Final Fantasy Union has a podcast interview with Hillis, where they ask a few questions of their own and then ask questions submitted by the fans. It's a solid interview and Hillis talks a lot about how she got involved with the game, who her favorite character(s) were, what it was like behind the scenes, and how she prepared for the role. Perhaps surprisingly - or maybe not; non-gamers don't realize how huge FF really is - she wasn't initially aware of how big her role actually was; she says she didn't understand until someone said, "you're the main protagonist in a Final Fantasy!" She also clearly had a lot of fun and when asked if she liked the character of Lightning, Hillis said simply, "I love her." She says she's also grateful to the director for providing such valuable feedback and in the end, she's proud of her performance and at the same time, humbled "by the power it was able to wield emotionally."
