Jack Tretton "Promises" Everyone A Third Killzone

It's hardly a big surprise but it's always nice to get the quasi-official announcement from SCEA boss Jack Tretton.

If you check out the latest GTTV episode, you'll see host Geoff Keighley try to get some info out of Tretton, and although the executive wouldn't provide us with an estimated launch date, he did say this-

"You know, we own Guerrilla Studios, and uh, they did a great job on Killzone 1 and 2 ... I don't know when you'll see announcements about it, but I can promise you a Killzone 3."

The first part of that sentence almost implies that if Guerrilla didn't want to do another Killzone, Sony might've pressed 'em a bit and said something along the lines of, "uh...no, you are going to do another Killzone." The sequel has basically guaranteed that a third would be a big seller, and the European development studio has already excited fans by saying they can always improve on the game-creating process. There have been a few rumors circulating saying that Killzone 3 would release towards the end of this year, but it's likely a safer bet to expect the third Resistance installment in 2010. KZ3 probably won't hit until next year but you never know...

I felt like the controls in Killzone 2 weren't responsive as I would like. I set the sensitivity all the way up and still couldn't get the responsivness I desired. Anyone else have this issue or am I just gonna get thumb raped this time?

Has there been an anouncement for gears 3? And i thought epic just said a little wile ago that they own the rights to gears. So that means it is probably coming to ps3. Just sayin.

Yes. It is releasing in April 2011.

Epic can bring it to the PS3, but that doesn't mean it will.

It would be cool if it could come out this year...but I'm willing to bet that Resistance 3 will come out this Fall when Killzone 3 will probably come out next year just so they can have something for next year along with Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

But I bet we'll see a ton more exclusives and new IPs coming out next year announced at E3/TGS. Can't wait!

cant wait for E3 this year!

Cmon Killzone 3, uncharted 3, infamous 2, resistance 3, the last guardian, gran turismo 5, twisted metal, grand theft auto 5 and versus 13. plus all the hidden ip's they will announce.

Maybe, but given Insomniac's and other developers' great relationships with Sony, I doubt that the comment was meant in this way. I read it as, "Since we own Guerilla, I can tell you that I know they're planning / working on Killzone 3"; i.e., since he's their boss's boss, he's privy to what they're doing.

I knew it was going to come at some point, but its great to hear him say it will. Killzone 2 is one of my favorite FPS games of all time, I just hope they get rid of the assault class from multiplayer.

Honestly I don't care when it comes out just as long as they do their best to make it better than the last one. Release it when it's ready, not a minute before. I can wait for awesome.

If R3 is to release this year, I don't see why they would release K3 this year. I think it's better for K3 to release next year, since it did release after R2 a bit over a year ago.

KZ2 - Best FPS of 2009
KZ3 - Best FPS of all time

Try and argue with me.
But well, maybe someone can argue with me about KZ3 gonna be the best FPS of all time but who can argue KZ2 is the best FPS in 2009?

MW2 was great but KZ2 is just better.

That Jack Tretton interview put a smile on my face.

When talking about the PS Move, Natal came up. Jack said that if anyone wants to play motion control games without a controller, pick up a Ps2 and a copy of EyePlay 1 or 2 to play with the technology Sony introduced to consoles EIGHT years ago.
