Section 8 Finally Cleared For PS3, PSN Spring Release
Although they kept saying the game was a multiplatform title, PlayStation 3 owners went wanting when it released last year for the Xbox 360 and PC.
SouthPeak's anticipated shooter, Section 8, dropped in early September of 2009 and at the time, they still claimed it would eventually come to the PS3. Well, after more than a few months of waiting, it appears it is finally coming: as revealed by TimeGate over at the game's official site, PS3 owners "will get their chance to 'burn-in' and join the fight on Section 8." The game will ship with a single-player campaign, instant action mode, and what should be an entertaining multiplayer mode that boasts 11 maps, 3 of which will be exclusive to Sony's platform. Perhaps most interesting of all is the fact that you'll have the option of either purchasing the standard Blu-Ray disc version or the downloadable version that will be on the PlayStation Network. Said Adel Chaveleh, CEO of TimeGate Studios:
"Section 8 will be an unforgettable experience for first-person shooter fans on the PlayStation®3 system since there's nothing quite like it on the PlayStation Network. We're sure fans will agree that Section 8 is a breath of fresh air for gamers tired of stale, ‘me-too' multiplayer first-person shooters that fail to innovate."
And here's the debut trailer:
The press release adds that Section 8 is the first PS3 title "to include support for TimeGate Studios' proprietary TGNServer technology," which lets users host 32-player games from their home PC. The game also features two "genre-changing features" in the form of "burn-in spawning and dynamic combat missions (DCMs)." The burn-in spawning lets you drop anywhere into the map to avoid spawn kills and DCMs throw mission objectives at you in real-time. Should be pretty cool; we'll be sure to check it out when it arrives this spring.

Honestly it may be a game changer for 360 games, but we've had "dynamic combat" since Killzone 2 and now with MAG. As for burn-in spawning, that can't be too much different from Killzone 2's spawn options.
I don't think I'll be playing this game. I'll try out a FREE demo, but doubtful it will impress.

BTW, while a-hunting today in GS, I found that 360's Sec-8 for the 360 was 1/2 price this week only, for only $19.99, so I picked it up(I could care less about the extra 3 MP maps I would have gotten on the PS3, cause I don't do multi-player anyway, and $19.99 brand new, is always better than $59.99, so says my Weight-Watcher's Wallet.
FYI, the game, "Prototype" on the PS3, is also on sale for 1/2 price this week too for $19.99.
(I just had to snatch that one up too.)
