Mafia II Set To Strongarm Shelves On August 24
It has been over seven years since the original Mafia released so obviously, a sequel is long past due.
Take-Two Interactive has announced that Mafia II will launch for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC in North America on August 24, nearly eight years after the first title dropped on August 28, 2002. Similar to the gameplay of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, Mafia II will be set in the '40s and '50s and you will follow the exploits of Italian-American Vito, who starts out trying to dig himself out of the gutter. And what's the fastest way to rise to the top of the world? Why, become a wise guy of course, which is why Vito starts to tag along with his buddy Joe and try his hand at some dark, underground stuff. The atmosphere will be crucial, which is why 2K has gone that extra step in ensuring the game's authenticity; they even inked a deal with PlayBoy (oh, just click it to see the pillow fight). If you've always loved those gangster movies and you enjoyed titles in the past like The Godfather and Scarface: The World is Yours, this one ought to be right up your alley.
It's only the start of a busy quarter for Take-Two, which should also release L.A. Noire, Max Payne 3 and Civilization V in that same span of time. Okay, so like...buy stock around late June or early July, right?

Story and missions were not blockbuster though so I think it kind of died from lack of 'wow' factor.
It leaves me with mixed feelings about part 2. I tend to feel that I'm going to enjoy Civ V a lot more.
