Dead Space 2 May Boast Freaky 3D

3D gaming is almost upon us, as Samsung has already begun to roll out their 3D-enabled HDTVs and Sony won't be far behind with their 3D-compatible Bravias.

Now all we need is a running list of titles that will support such fancy new technology. Many game makers are already preparing patches for their current games that will allow them to run in 3D, and Sony will be releasing a firmware update that will allow the PlayStation 3 to handle 3D gaming. Furthermore, many titles in the future should also support 3D and when it comes to intense, sweaty-palm adventures like that of Dead Space 2, an added dimension for extra immersion should be most intriguing. But will developer Visceral Games consider it? Well, apparently, according to Examiner.com, Visceral spoke about this subject at their recent panel at PAX East 2010 over the weekend. They say that one of the obstacles with 3D is that it "doesn't really get along" with the in-game HUD, as the latter "violates the space." They have no intention of including a HUD in Dead Space 2, though, so they'd be "a step ahead." This sounds exciting but they weren't about to confirm 3D compatibility; they were more interested in convincing the audience that they're intent on creating "a kick-ass game" above all else.

We'll have to wait and see what happens. By the way, for the record, Dead Space 2 has only been confirmed for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360; a PC version is only "under consideration" at this point.

My thoughts exactly, I haven't played the first one or any survival horror game since RE4 really but this would definitely make me pick it up immediately, assuming I had the right tv of course.

totally worth it, the demo DOES NOT do it justice you have to experience all the gritty sounds and soil-you-pants moments to really enjoy it, plus..it should be cheap since its pretty old by now, picked mine up for 20 bucks somewhere and i dont regret it , enjoyed very much.

TIP: the better the sound system, the more underwear you will ruin, you have been warned

That would certainly be creepy, but what is REALLY scary is the possible direction DS2 is taking. What with action being focused on more than creepiness and the fact that well, Isaac's new suit has hand and feet rockets that basically make him Iron Man. :P

Oh god...and as if Dead Space wasn't scary enough. Horror scares me. Survival horror frightens me. SCI FI SURVIVAL HORROR makes me stay up all night looking whether a big ass alien just crash through the ceiling and just come running at me.

AND NOW...IN 3D?!?!?! That's plain insanity...all those limbs poking out to get you. Oh god!

I haven't managed to play the first one yet, haven't really had the chance. Looks good tho. As for the second one in 3d, well it's always the same with me, quality first. If it's good, I'm in.

I'm thinking that that 3D gaming is going to be pretty badass, but I don't think it is going to make a bid splash this generation. Dont get me wrong, I can't wait to see what it is like, but the problem is that most of us will have to wait. I've already had to upgrade to HDTV this gen, and the chance of me having the bonesto throw out for a 3D tv are slim. And I think most gamers out there are in the same boat.

yap, im not about to spend a few grand on that, id rather use em to travel or w/e im content with HD lcds and blue ray movies

that said, this game in 3d...sounds very interesting!

The problem with the stuff without glasses will never feel like stuff flying in your face... it will only give a sense of depth but not of high.

So the screen will feel like it has something inside but it wouldn't be as in the stuff will feel like is coming out.

So... i dot mind the glasses they didn't give me headaches plus you can actually use the cheap glasses from the cinema... (not the blue and red ones), it's just that the shutter ones are better.

Anything 3D is kinda cool, but I dont see it catchin' on anytime soon. But I agree with shadowpal - a 3D DS2 would scare the ever-livin' sheite out of me!

finally a article about this game that does not disappoint me and fill me with doubt.
what is it with developers these days and completley destroying their series by changing the genre?
first it was resident evil 4 going from survival horror to action.
than F.E.A.R 2 going from survival horror to action.
than halo wars going from FPS to RTS.
and now this.

I'm due a new TV, but I don't want to take the early adopter's hit again. My plasma was £2500 six years ago and it kills me to see what £250 would get me now. GT5 3D will need to be mind blowingly awesome for me to do that again.

I'm gonna wait for at least the 2nd(or even 3rd) round of 3D TV's coming out.

And hopefully by that time, any unforeseen bugs should have already been worked out, all the 3D tech will be even better then, plus having a 3D standard in place for all 3D TV's.

And I also want their prices to have dropped to a much more obtainable price by that time too.

BTW, Samsung has already brought out the 1st of their 3D TV's into my Southern New Jersey area this past week........
