Has Syphon Filter PS3 Been In The Works Since 2008?
So it appears that Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow will make its way to the PS2, but what about a PS3 installment of the once-popular franchise?
Well, it may interest you to know that Sony may have been planning a next-gen installment for quite some time. The only downside to this news is that given the time gap, and the fact that we haven't heard a peep about it, the project may have been nixed. According to the LinkedIn profile for the Director of Product Development at SCEA, Christopher Reese, it seems clear that the PS3 has - at least at one time - been involved with Syphon Filter. You can see it here:
February 2000 — February 2008 (8 years 1 month)
"Co-direct the Bend Studio of 60+ highly skilled and talented programmers, artists, designers and production support personnel as well as oversee and direct all technical advancements to meet AAA quality for the PS2, PSP, and PS3 hardware by continuing to build upon the very successful Syphon Filter franchise."
And just below that, you'll see that he's worked on basically every Syphon Filter after the original PlayStation titles. So the question is, are they still toiling away on a game for the PS3 or did they start a while ago and then silently quit on the idea? We really haven't heard a whisper about any new Syphon Filter project for the PS3 so...

Just because past incidents have happened does not foreshadow anything that is to come.
Keep an open mind.
The Story from the past syphon filter games where done as if it was made for a movie.
And the directors from the bourne trilogy are the kind of guys that can make this happen.
I Just know it.

you are definitely overestimating hollywood. just because the story and everything else is already available, they're going to go with their own ideas. I agree with limited about great games not being great movies. hollywood only wants the name of a franchise and will take it in the direction they want which means crap movie.

I Would like for you to look at my post one more time. Where did i say hollywood?
Sony has its own movie studio.
and all i did say was hire the directors from the bourne trilogy.
obviously the scriptwriting will be dealt with from the guys who did the original games. ;)
If you are talking about PoP then yes they "Baught" The Right To make a movie based on the game and UBIsoft kindly agreed.

FYI, there has been more Driver games, Parallel Lines and 76, not so great as the first 2, but hell, better than nothing...
