Uncharted 2 Siege Expansion Pack Announced, Detailed

It was 2009's best and although the focus is squarely on the amazing single-player campaign, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves features a robust and entertaining online multiplayer mode, too.

And if you've been enjoying that aspect of the game, you'll be happy to hear about the third piece of downloadable content for Naughty Dog's gem. It's called the Siege Expansion Pack and it'll be available on the PlayStation Network on April 22. This bad boy adds 2 new multiplayer maps, 6 new skins, and a grand total of 11 new Trophies; furthermore, the Co-Op option in Siege - 2 or 3 players against the AI - ought to be a big draw. The goal will be to capture and hold the designated territory against wave upon wave of invading and increasingly difficult AI opponents. All players must be in the territory to claim it and the territory will change with every round.

As for the new maps, we'll get The Highrise, where you'll engage over the streets of Nepal on a map that will offer ample opportunity to gain the height advantage. But watch out for the air strikes, which can clear a rooftop in seconds... The second map is The Museum, which is set at dusk outside in the courtyards; it's the site of Drake and Flynn's heist, if you remember the storyline. This one apparently has it all; flanking, rooftops, close-quarters battle, secret climbing routes, etc. Both maps sound like a ton of fun.

The 6 skins are: Wetsuit Drake, Baseball Shirt Drake, Prakoso, Platzor, Glowzor, and Dead Explorer. And the 11 new Trophies are as follows; these are all Bronze:

You Can’t Break Me – Complete all 3 co-op objective maps on Crushing
Under Siege – Finish Wave 10 in 1 Siege game
Speedy – Get 10 First! Medals
I’ll Cover You – Get 50 Defender Medals
Fallen Angel – Get 50 Afterlife Medals
Not So Fast – Get 20 “Shut’em Down Medals
Jack of All Trades – Get 15 Triple Threat Medals
You Run, I’ll Shoot – Get 10 Protectorate Medals
Back At Ya – Get 50 Retaliation Medals
Kneel Before Z… – Get 5 Put-em Down Medals

The lone Silver Medal is Rock a Rhyme, which requires that you snag 100 Tricky Medals. Is all this enough to warrant a download come April 22? We should think so.

I'll be there! Sounds like a lot of fun.

In fact, I can't wait, the hi-rise level sounds very intriguing, and I love the sound of under siege, the co-op survival games already have that feel because there are certain areas that you always end up backing into to give yourselves the best chance to weather the last couple of waves.

The museum sounds fun as well, the roof-top sequence was atmospheric in-game, and should make for an entertaining multi-player level, there are a lot of hiding places.

So three new maps and 2 recycled ones are comparable to 2 new maps, new game mode for co-op, new skins, and added trophies which for some people will add even more gameplay value because some people love to get those trophies and it adds incentive to play the game.

I personally haven't played U2 but it seems like more of a bonus than 3 new maps plus 2 previously free maps but then again I am using that analytical and critical thinking process that can be acquired by attending a university level philosophy course.

I know world I know but I haven't the money in all honesty and when I did have the money I was on vacation in Florida at the Winter Music Conference so now I am back to ground zero. Trust me it is my next game buy right after I get a legit copy of FL Studios or Ableton.

More trophies...

I dropped Uncharted 2 in favour of GT5P when I got a steering wheel a few months back. At the time I only needed about 5 hidden treasures for the Platinum, I suspect I'll be down to about %50 when I start playing it again.

Major bummer! ...but that Plat will be mine, I could almost taste the damned thing.

Yeah I feel for you. I platinum'd this game early so I didn't have to do all the multiplayer trophies.

I don't think I would ever platinum this game if I had to do it now... which is unfortunate.

I don't think the new Trophies count toward your Platinum. See my reply below to WWW. There are two sub categories under Uncharted 2. One for the Trophies that shipped with the game and another for the DLC Trophies.

As Kowhoho says the add-on trophies are not required to platinum the game. The % of trophies obtained will look lower, but you only need to complete the original trophy list to platinum the game.

i got 12 platinums but its kinda sad to see that percentage drop from 100%. It kinda sucks too that the new trophies dont count the previous achievements/medals from before the dlc.

nice, i havent given the online a go in a while, but i had a lot of fun in coop with my cousin and a friend, museum map sounds interesting, lets see how it works out, all in all you get a few skins, new maps, and a new coop mode, 9.99 sounds about right ,but well see, the skin packs on the psn are 4.99? cant remember...anyways, sounds fun, i hope i can play coop with a few of you guys when it does come out :D , if anythnig we know its gonna be a quality dlc, its naughty dog

This better be cheap. It's just 2 meager maps that are basically roped off sections of the SP game? Skins don't add any gameplay value.....and paying for more trophies? Yeesh.....I don't like DLC.

Not big on DLC myself, so I probably won't get this, but I never did get into the multiplayer on the full game (Was in the beta) Maybe I'll have to give it a whirl when my plate is a bit cleaner. Nice of them to keep these prices low though. I'm looking at you Activision.

Sounds great. So far Uncharted 2 DLC holds the best value IMO. $15 for 3 new maps is laughable.

Naughty Dog sent those of use who purchased the Eye of Indra motion comic a nice free gift. A repackaged Eye of Indra in one file. All four episodes and two new skins(Pinkerton and Eddie Raja's sister) for FREE!

Contrast that with Crapitivison. Heh, those of you who buy that MW2 map pack are suckers.

yup, i just got that email. i hated their holloween promotion though. I got that skeleton skin(marco polo) for beating uncharted on crushing. i felt good when i was one of the few with the marco polo skin, i got that "yeah, i beat it on crushing" feeling when you play. but then they unlocked it for holloween then everyone was using it. got pissed and decided to go for donut drake but then stopped when i realized that hes a bigger target.

Wasn't Donut Drake only available on Thanks Giving? i remember not being able to change my skin when playing on Halloween or Thanks Giving.

They should add Kratos and Zeus.

Who else thinks DLC is screwing up hitting platinum trophies. Anytime I make my mind am gonna play some game to 100% and am about 60% in, then voila.....a new update comes up and my trophies are sent back to 40%. What's worse is if you're not interested in buying that particular DLC, you're forced to get it if you want to get plat.

I think DLCs have something up their sleeves, they were introduced to make it difficult to sell games and destroy the pre-ownership market. It's a good idea though, but keeps messing up trophies.

Its like I don't really care for trophies anymore :(

They shouldn't. New Trophies added after the fact through DLC don't count toward Platinum. Only the ones that shipped with the game at launch.

I currently have 84% of the Uncharted 2 Trophies and i have Platinum.

EDIT: in fact i just checked. at least for Uncharted 2, the Trophies are separated into two categories. When i selected Uncharted 2 from the list it opens two sub categories.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Platinum 100% and DLC 0%. Not sure i that's just Uncharted or all games though.

The trophy requirements to get the Platinum don't change. They could add 1,000 extra online trophies and you would require none of them to platinum the game. This same thing happened with Burnout Paradise and it's additional online content. Those who'd not got Platinum yet feared they never would, but the Platinum trophy only requires the original trophy list be complete. Te new add-on trophies which are not on the disc are not required.

Unless you don't know which are the originals and which are the downloaded ones, I suppose a person could always look for that info online but I'd prefer it if they were all separated out like U2.

new trophies usually get an icon on the top left of the trophy or something. like in warhawk, they have the icon on the trophy telling you what addon it was from.

i didnt know they seperated it in categories. the last time i looked it was just a list with the new trophies by the bottom with an icon showing its an add on trophy.

Oh really, never really checked. But like World says its best they separate them, and you know Jawknee, having platinum with 84% showing looks odd, though you have the platinum I'd rather it stays 100% and the DLCs having their percentages on their own somewhere else.

Tell me about it. So many games add trophies with their dlc and you're stuck with Platinum and %60 complete. Separating the two would be nice or do like AC2 did and don't add trophies in your dlc. Tough call...

Co-op goodness is always welcomed

I hope more games pay attention to the fact that co-op can be, or for some is better than pvp

That's what SNES did really well during its era. The amount of co-op play was extremely fun

No, I didn't mean MW2, I meant U2. Maybe the way I phrased it made it a little unclear as to what game. However, regardless of the game, UC2 or MW2 if anybody would want a new multiplayer buddy my PSN:ID is lingering above somewhere in this comment's section.

Uncharted 2 DLC will always be a first week try snag...I will always try to get it tho...SO is anyone else gonna buy this DLC 1st day? Seems like a new trend..forget 1st day buy for video games..nah we moved on to DLC!

Alrite i get cha scarecrow..but lets say there expecting there first DLC to sell well to make a some ohter DLC, but of course it flops and where does that leave the company?Hitchaking a job..then at the end of the year the DLC sold more then epect and the fans are hollering for more,I dony even know this could be a dilema but this community is a nice one and will use their imagination =)....Forget you then...
