EA And Epic Unveil A Storm Of Bullets
Late last year, we learned that Epic Games had teamed up with Painkiller developer People Can Fly to work on an intense FPS known as Bulletstorm.
And now it's official. This should be one very entertaining FPS and we can't wait to sample the...um...storm of bullets. The game takes place in the immediate future - the year 2011 - and revolves around a group of elite soldiers known as Dead Echo. Apparently, the sinister-sounding name is in place for a reason, as two members, Grayson Hunt and Ishi Sato, soon realize they're manning guns for the wrong side. Shortly after, they're betrayed by their commanding officer and are exiled to a distant planet in the farthest reaches of space. There, the two will run into plenty of nasty, otherworldly beings but such enemies won't stop them from getting revenge... Said Epic Games President Dr. Michael Capps:
"Bulletstorm is the kind of game we love to make because it's pure, unadulterated entertainment. People Can Fly has created a wildly fun first-person shooter that looks gorgeous running on the latest Unreal Engine 3 technology, and the skillshot system is a welcome addition to the genre. We can’t wait to see how everyone reacts to seeing Bulletstorm."
EA also appears to be excited about the project; the collaboration of Epic and People Can Fly should prove to be pretty explosive. We don't have a released ate just yet but we might get one at E3, and there's a good chance Bulletstorm might be on store shelves before the year is out. Personally, I just want to see some early screens; perhaps it'll have to do battle with Platinum's Vanquish for FPS supremacy.

I'm on the other side....FPS is one of my favorite genres, that and racing games. So, I'm excited for this and Bodycount.
Awesome names for shooters, by the way, Bodycount and Bulletstorm. I can almost hear the Heavy Metal sound tracks now.

P.S. LIGHTEN UP PEOPLE!!! If you don't want to play a shooter than don't play it. I know the genre is getting run into the ground, and I hate it too. But this one has only been announced and you are already badmouthing it.
Give life a chance!!

really?
i thought the first step of pre production was to look at the market and see which aspect is quiet and see where there would be a market for your game?
obviously that part has been thrown out the door, because when theres another billion and one shooters out there theres hardly a market to compete against!
its like 50 companies trying to sell a product to 10 people, its just not going to work!
what happened to originality?
this industry is destroying itself and in the meantime boring the fu*k out of me!
i can see by the end of this gen i wont want to play games or be a game developer anymore, repetition is ripping this industry apart!
how many times can you play the same game?
if i had one cent for every 50th shooter announced this gen i would be richer than sony M$ and ninty put together!

I am becoming a little tired of first-person shooters, though. I'll have to wait on the screenshots and videos.
