Twisted Metal: Harbor City Spotted

Along with Twitter, LinkedIn has become quite the resource for journalists these days.

Thing is, professionals want to keep updated resumes and LinkedIn sorta makes that information public. A little while ago, the site turned us onto the possibility of a PlayStation 3 version of Splinter Cell: Conviction and now, SCEA Senior Cinematic Producer Jeffery Vargas has revealed something very, very interesting: it's a project called Twisted Metal: Harbor City for the PS3. You can see the listing over at TheSixthAxis; however, there are two considerably odd variables we can't ignore: firstly, the game was supposedly on tap for the PS2 and secondly, Vargas doesn't appear to be affiliated with Eat Sleep Play, Dave Jaffe and Scott Campbell's new studio that is rumored to be working on a new Twisted Metal. Remember, the team is independent of Sony - as far as we know - and now we're starting to wonder...who's making what? And what if Harbor City is a downloadable effort for the PSN? And if Jaffe and Co. have no involvement with TM, what are they working on? It's a little confusing right now.

But at the very least, this is the first we're seeing of "Twisted Metal: Harbor City," so that, in and of itself, is pretty damn exciting.

Jaffe has been annoying the hell out of me for several years now. If there is no news regarding a game from him at E3 I'm giving up on him.

Funny you mention that LV. After i finished GOW3 i wondered what he has been up to after leaving Sony.

Hopefully at E3 something will rise.

Wrapped in a riddle, inside of a enigma, contained within a Rubik's Cube, on the backside of a sudoku puzzle, inside a woman's brain.

The wiki gives more info. on it. It was scrapped although it sounded pretty good with the open world design.

Do fill me out on some history coz i dont have much on Jaffe: i know he's responsible for TM1&2 and TM:Black. But was he also part of GoW1? What's the other stuff he did?

And all the while trying to be a celebrity on "The Tester" too.

I hate to say it about Sony, but along with the whole show sucking, he did too.

I figured this title got yanked, seeing how it was nestled right in all those other "2005" games listed there too.

Harbor city was a sequel for twisted metal black, but it was canceled. Something tells me they're probably not bringing it back and that vargas probably just worked on it before it got canceled.

It's been a long time since I heard any Twisted Metal news on the PS3.... which has been nothing since the re-release of Twisted Metal: Head On for the PS2.

It'd be great if something like that game out, it'd be an instant addition to my library.

I can't wait for a new Twisted Metal. I like to see some new online modes besides deathmatch. I like to see some kind of zones mode and a CTF mode added. I know it not a priority but it would be cool to have guest cars and characters from other Sony franchises such as Infamous, GOW, Uncharted, and many others added. And of course their vehicles would have special weapons that relate to their prospective game such as Infamous having special lighting attacks.

What's so bad about taking a title that was supposed to be on the PS2 and continuing it for a PS3 release? Doesn't sound like a bad idea to me, lol. God of War III was wanted on the PS2, but they decided to release it on the PS3.
