Get Free 3D Games With Your 3D-Enabled TV Purchase

Okay, so the prospect of nabbing a 3D-enabled HDTV is an expensive one, but Sony wants to put that new technology on display for free. You know, provided you pony up the cash first.

Sony has already confirmed that the first Bravia HDTVs with full 3D functionality will be in stores this June (which leads us to believe the necessary firmware update for our PS3s will be available that same month). But according to TheSixthAxis, Sony will sweeten the deal by offering free 3D Blu-Ray movies and 3D PS3 games with the purchase of these TVs. For instance, if you decide to buy the first 3D HDTV, the HX800 model, it will come with no less than four 3D stereoscopic titles, which will be available on the PlayStation Network. Just bear in mind that you might not be getting the full game; here are the details:

Wipeout HD: full 3D game (not including WipEout HD Fury)
PAIN: 3 x 3D episodes + 1 x 2D tutorial
Super Stardust HD: full 3D game (not including DLC)
MotorStorm Pacific Rift: single level 3D demo

Okay, so two are only demos, but hell, the entire Wipeout HD in 3D has gotta be worth a look. By the way, a couple of the free 3D Blu-Ray movies that will come bundled with certain HDTVs will be "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" and "Deep Sea." So if you're willing to shell out for a Sony 3D HDTV come June, you should be able to snag some free goodies to go along with it, simply for the sake of testing out this new fancy technology.

You'd think Sony would of thrown in at least a voucher for a free download off of the Store, in hopes of getting people warmed up and hooked on the idea of DLC.

sony may not be bundling but i think its coz they are still losing money.
but its alright here, you can alwas find a bundle of sorts in the shops. i would recommend game, but they are overpriced like slags!

I used to love it when you got a game with your new system. Sony has never really done it, though. Not right off the bat, anyway. All I received with my PS1 was a sweet demo disc. My PS2 came with nothing. I had to buy the Official PS Magazines so I could have some demos. My PS3 came with nothing, either. That was okay, though, because you could download off the PS Store.

I'll never forget my excitement when I opened my first NES system. I played Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt for hours upon hours. Good times. =)

When I bought my Atari ST it came with a copy of ST Format magazine along with some games. Sony should at least give a voucher or something so people could grab a free copy of their countries official PS3 Mag and hopefully get a demo disc on the cover, good advertising for the magazine as well.

Must be some poor people that have no Internet access and get a PS3 for Xmas etc.. have no games and just have the XBL to entertain themselves.

its probably because they know that the games they released would sell a lot. but i still dont get why they didnt take advantage bundle them to move consoles. the only thing i can think of is that they make more for selling game and system than selling system with free game.

a second controller is pretty much useless in this generation when developers focus more on single player and online multiplayer rather than local multiplayer like previous generations. although the last gen didnt have 2 controllers either.

every console here comes with multiple games.
like buy a 120GB ps3 and you get 4 older games with it.
or you can get the bundle which includes heavy rain and GOW3.
same on the 360s front, i recently bought a new 360 and got 4 older titles with it.
or i could of waited and got splinter cell conviction, 2nd wireless controller, 250GB HDD instead of 120, and a play and charge kit.
but i really did not need either of those so i decided to save myself the 100 bucks and get the 4 games appose to the larger HDD and extra controller.

Well, this amounts to mere trinkets that Sony is offering here. Demos are usually free anyways and the games they are throwing in don't even amount up to a Benjamin.

This certainly won't have me standing in line for a 3D TV on release day.

Yea whats up with that, I want to see some bundles sony. I hope we see a GT5 bundle I'll buy it on the first day or what about GOW 3 that sold like crazy and sold a few consles amagine if you bundled that. I'm just surprised that we havent seen a bundle yet. whats up sony?
Just think we would be gaining like crazy with some bundles xbox has tons of bundles come on sony and they have that new halo coming out I bet anything there going to bundle it too.

PS I dont have any douts in sony there doing great just think we should have a couple of bundles is all.

Not a very good deal to me, but then again, even if it's a good deal I'm not interested in 3D one bit.

I've not yet upgraded to HD, and I don't think I'll ever game in 3D as I felt that it is pointless unless you're a thrill seeker.

I remember gaming on my standard def TV for 6 months after I got my PS3 at launch. It looked good and all, but honestly you HAVE to get an HDTV. You will be freakin' blown away at how much better it looks!

Hopefully you at least have some surround sound...or else you have a serious shopping spree in your future.

I am excited for 3D enabled tellies but only for the reasoning that it will push the price down on regular HDTV sets, if even just a little.

I need a second set for my living room so my flat mate will stay the hell out of my room.

Nothing quite as unsettling as coming home from work to find a man laying in your bed watching Netflix.

EDIT: Well, unless you're LV then it's probably not so bad.

I just bought my first HDTV last summer. Before that, I was playing on a 27" tube by some no-name brand. Obviously, playing games on my new HDTV looks a HELL of a lot better but the games are still just as fun and amazing on a crappy TV, too. Never dimmed my experience one bit playing MGS4 on that 27" tube. =)

I'm still playing on SD too... I mentioned lower that I'm building a sweet gaming/entertainment room in the basement which when finished, will be made complete with the purchase of an HDTV... but... springtime flooding stopped that for a couple weeks.

It's going good now though... It's framed, door is hung, electricity is wired, insulation and vapor barrier is in, lights (although just pigtails now) are in the right spots, audio wire for surround sound and HDTV capable cable are set in place and my sub-flooring is down! All that's left is to drywall, paint, and put down the hardwood laminate flooring and pick out some trim! Gimme 2 weekends and I'll get me an HDTV by the start of May!!!

EDIT: Not a 3D tv though... >.<

The free movies are cool, but the games are kind of meh, especially since they aren't full disc based games and 2 of the 4 are demos.
Still wouldn't buy it, mostly because I don't have the money, but also because I will just wait till the next Playstation and better versions of the
3-d TV.

Too a'spensive for me! I just shelled out 4k on waterproofing my basement... put my PS3 room renovations on hold (I'm building a sweet entertainment room with surround sound, etc.) So I've got no money...

Really, the only way I would buy one this year would be if they threw in something like a playable 3D HD capable demo of a FFVII remake. So ya... not getting one.

SONY needs to come much harder if the want to sway the public into purchasing these 3D sets. All manufacturers need to do so. Although I do think that it is a good strategy to introduce this technology while HD penetration is still young. There are still quite a few who have not upgraded. They may just jump to 3D in these cases.

I am never first in line for new tech. I consider early adopters to be my beta testers. 3D sounds interesting but It may be quite awhile before it is perfected. Who knows. Maybe we will have holographic technology by that time.

Next year 3D tv will be shown without the glasses. That is when I will buy a new tv. I still have a Sony 32" tube tv and not HD yet.

Are companies jumping to fast on the 3D band wagon, it just seemed like things were going great, tvs LCD/plasma coming down in price, then they brought out LED which I don't see many people buying them due to the price tag. We just are slowly getting the economy back from a recession and I just think big companies are pushing new technology way to quick and the price tag for 3D damn I don't have that won't for a long time.

Sony don't fail me now. As long as the new Sony 3D TVs are priced to match the competition and they start marketing it and all its glory they should do fine. I was at Best Buy and the new 3D Samsungs are sexy and their website is already on top of showing off the Apps...and it's April.

If Sony has the people waiting until June, lets hope what they have the consumers waiting for is worth the wait. Samsung is always the one to beat.

ahhhh sonys going to have to do better than that to suck me in!
im thinking of getting a new 3D TV next year if everything goes well which knowing my luck it wont!
depending on the prices obviously, hopefully there not too much higher than normal TV prices now.
cant remember where but i read that 3D TVs are going to be released here in 3 week time, i cant wait to go down to the shops and try them out!

its going to be interesting to see how the games take on the tech, if its only going to be effects like the clash of the titans movie.
or if its going to be full on 3D like the avatar.
to be honest i cant see the ps3 offering 3D options like nvidias 3D vision glasses offer.
metro 2033 + alienware AW2310 + 1 pair nvidia 3D vision glasses = best 600 bucks i have ever spent!
some of the effects in metro 2033 or even BFBC2 come so close to your face its amazing watching cover blown to pieces than watching said cover come flying towards your face!
if ps3 games can achieve that it would be really cool but i wont hold my breath because to do so you really need minimum 120hz and ps3 games are strugiling to get 60 let alone 120!
look at GOW3 they promised 60FPS full HD, than it dropped to full HD 30FPS than dropped to 720P variable frames.

like the guy from team ninja said i really can not see 3D on the ps3 taking off, the processing power required is just not there.
if you want a true 3D experience theres only one place you can get it.
PC + alienware AW2310 + nvidia 3D vision glasses + nvidia 480GTX + metro 2033 = gaming orgasm!!!!!!!!!!!
