Ubisoft Not Ruling Out A PS3 Version Of Conviction
Will we ever see Splinter Cell: Conviction on the PlayStation 3? Well, as far as Ubisoft is concerned, it's merely a "wait and see" situation.
In speaking to VG247, Conviction creative director Maxime Béland noted that Microsft "has been wonderful" in supporting the game for the Xbox 360 so for the time being, "we'll have to see what decisions are made by Ubisoft's management in the future." Now, we've seen more than a few pieces of evidence that supports the possibility of a PS3 version, including two industry employee CVs that specifically make mention of such a version. And remember, all Splinter Cell titles have eventually made their way to a PlayStation console, including the latest - Double Agent - back in 2006 and 2007. Conviction just launched a few days ago for the Xbox 360 and PC and it is pulling down some very favorable review scores, as most expected. PS3 owners will quickly point towards their own Metal Gear Solid series (which will go ultiplatform with Rising, anyway), but as we always say, Splinter Cell is a very different franchise. And in all honesty, it'd really be something worth having on the PS3.
Personally, I love me some Sam Fisher. I'll definitely be playing this bad boy at some point this year; that's a given.
