If not for just the graphics and only 1 disc. I'd say the reasons I went ps3 is because I got a ps3 months after it came out and I'm still on the first 1 i got. Where as I've only had xbox 2 years and I'm on my 3rd 1. So whenever they stop fixing it for free I'll trash it and be done with it.

while i have not yet bought XIII yet, i can say that 1 reason is that i wanted this game back when it was first announced and FF is like a playstation mainstay. it just feels right on PS

and please don't start with the nintendo argument. the majority of the critically acclaimed FFs have been on PS..... so yeah

Ha, I don't think you have to worry.... Most people on here won't think that FF still belongs on a Nintendo platform. FF2 was the JAM though...... When your charcters developed into their bad-ass forms.... Awesome!

Because the PS3 version is clearly the superior one as it was originally made for PS3, even though the quality is sub-par(I don't care what you think, they could have done SO much better), and I didn't wanna shell out another 300 bucks for an XBox.

just out of curiosity, what do you mean by they could have done so much better? If you mean dumping the mainstays like exploration and towns and having a weird battle system I agree.

But on a technical level it does set the bar, graphics in an RPG especially.

i believe it means sub-par=not quite final fantasy. The game is great for an RPG if you can still call it that, but not quite the final fantasy experience. The battle system was too "streamlined" for me. i started to get over it and just kept spamming x for the same attacks, some places got boring. when i actually pick my attacks, usually during bosses, i have to hurry and pick the right one before the boss beats the hell out of my party, no mistakes can be made. sometimes i could care less about the rest of my group and focus on the leader since i cant be revived if i die. damn, at least allow revival if you're rocking 2 medics.

John - It's amazing how much I agree. I'm still playing this game - making ultimate weapons and taking down marks/missions.... It's still so much fun, but I do get tired of hitting X during battle. I really wish it had the gambit system or something so I felt like I had some control over the other characters.

And about the dying thing. It does suck to have Hope standing there, fully capable of using raise - but NO! .... He just stands there and let's me die..... Game over. And restarting just before the fight is kinda weird too. I hope those are 2 things that NEVER appear in a FF again.

@World: I mean that even though the graphics are great, they could have been even better, the game could have been even onger than it already is, the mechanics could have been more polished, etc... I guess I kinda feel like even though it took them 6 years to do it, it feels both rushed and half-assed at the same time.

But this game just doesn't have any features that really make me want to pour my time on this game that much. It's good game but hear me out:

* trying to drag you to the story but also forces you to fight, fight, and fight are really contradicting elements of an RPG unless you add another element like unique attacks both strong and flashy as you grow stronger something like limit breaks from FF7 which adds as a motivation for some players like me. Yes you get summons but thats all, theres no growth in it

I haven't bought it yet (I will), but the PS3 was the platform they optimized it for, before moving on to the box. Plus the single disk, the enhanced audio, enhanced FMV's.... The real question is, why would someone buy the xbox version if they could choose either one?

Aside from the obvious reasons I also wanted to support the ps3 version to let SE know that is where I want them to keep future games.

I think this survey is a good move on their part.. like the way they asked the fans about the FF7 remake it could (hopefully) mean a positive new direction for them.

I refuse to purchase FFXIII, but if I ever did, it would be on the PS3 for the Japanese audio. If not for that, I'd probably get it for the 360 for the achievement points. As said though, I refuse to buy the game, so it doesn't really matter what I would do.

never understood the argument that the 360 has nothing but shooters, because thats a load of crap!

I got it for the ps3 because that's where it is meant for. I hate going on sites, let's say destructoid for example where people try to justify they buying ff13 on xbox because of achievments or controller. Duh your just doing it because they are so ignorant of anything on ps3. If I wanted to plau a game for 50+ hours I would not do it on a controller made for the sole purpose of shooters or want to look at the lower end graphics that the 360 has.

It looks better on the PS3, it's only one disk, the controller isn't meant for a 6-fingered hand (360 is WAY too odd shaped for me), I'd never own a ticking time bomb Xbox (even if given to me, I'd sell it to buy more PS3 games and PC hardware), I don't care for paying for a their Live feature, I enjoy my wireless connection out of the box... I'll stop there.

Well, I bought a PS3 for the next FF title. It just so turns out FF13 goes multiplatform. Not that I regret my decision in any way, I'm very happy to have purchased a PS3 because it offers more content and quality features than any other console in existence. However, if anyone of importance in Square sees this message, follow this one important note I'm about to leave for you. When the next FF title after 13 Versus and the MMO title releases, make sure to create a turn-based title true to the history of the great predecessors throughout the series. I promise you, the rewards for this act will be bountiful. God bless.

Well, I just finished taking the survey. Not just for the 30 points but for the reason that by God they are going to hear what I have to say. This series must return to Playstation, because other than Versus, we are all in danger that FFXV will not just be ported to 360 this time, but will be developed AS a multiplat.

They need to learn that this Western leaning crap and that 360 owners run the show is bullsh*t.

Oh yeah, and I checked "PS3 is console of choice," obviously.

well, judging by this news, Aaron Greenburg's (or which ever spokes-critter at MS it was) claims that the 360 version would outsell the PS3 was yet another failed promise. As I remember it, it was guaranteed, or something...Whatever.

Seriously though SE, what the hell is up with you? It's like you're completely brainless at the moment, are you working through Game Development For Dummies or something? You made your fortune (as it were) with Playstation gamers playing your games on Playstations with Playstation controllers. What bloody result do you think you're going to get? People didn't buy the bloody game on the 360 because the audience for RPGs is tiny on the 360, the crappy controller and frequent console failures don't help either. The fact that the game was visually inferior on the 360 didn't help.

All of the PS3 reasons listed above. Besides, the 13 other games I have that have Final Fantasy in the title are all on a Playstation console. Combine that with the above mentioned reasons, I chose the PS3 version.

Because the 360 is like a cheap hooker. It sits in your living room and blows really really loud. Then it starts to heat up and you notice the red ring. You want it gone, but it's to late. So you replace it and try again only to find the same problems. And you have more than one disc too.

Playstation is where the Final Fantasy (VII) train is stationed

And that's where their fans are, and always will be (waiting for them)

We actually love deep storylines, with engaging characdters.

US ps3 owners would actually pass on the next big FPS, for a true high quality jrpg, with swords, mallets, katanas, and daggers!

PS: Haven't bought the game, but if I did it's clear why. The ps3 fanbase love Japanes games, and rpgs

if i did get FFXIII obviously would be the ps3 version only because well the ps3 does not scratch the sh*t out of the disks after 3 days use!
ive had mass effect 2 for just over a week, i just got onto the 2nd disk 3 days ago it was brand spanking new and now my 360 cant read it because its scratched to hell!
how the %$#@ M$ gets away with selling such shoddy hardware is beyond me.
if it was anyone else selling this sh*t they would of had their pants sued off years ago!

The media would be all over it. Compared to the ridiculously sympathetic coverage MS currently has, you'd think that the media itself was run by MS.

As to why, I have no idea. Maybe it's blind idiotic nationalism (support the AMERICAN console), maybe it's sour grapes-ism (buying an Xbox in the year headstart it got and then finding out PS3 was better, but not wanting to admit the mistake), or maybe it's both.

My theory on the 360 version coming up short in sales: FFXIII was the death knell of the console war. Millions of console owners stared across a valley of empty red bulls and pizza boxes at their 360s and felt shame for the first time. If you owned both consoles the choice was clear. This wasnt like so many times in the past when a ps3 version of a game was inferior. This was different. This was proof positive that the ps3 hardware was never to blame. The 360 version spanned three discs and it was STILL inferior. This was a cold groinslap of reality to every 360 fanboy that clung to the belief that the playstation would fade into oblivion

i wouldnt pick a game based on ratings. I suggest you ignore scores and read the actual reviews. im not saying final fantasy 13 is crap, its more of a generality. check the psxextreme review score for just cause 2. It lower than expected but a few people still love the game. if the game sounds like i'd like it, i buy it without thinking about the review score. gundam crossfire had bad review, but i still enjoyed it. probably because im interested in making robots but thats just me.

Of course every game has trophies and achievements, I don't get why they made that an option and that last one for the 360 "Enjoy Xbox’s community when playing games like this".......am guessing PS3 doesn't have a community huh. It shoulda been "Xbox 360 has 3 discs and I just love to exercise my waist by standing and swapping discs"

I'm sorry Square but most of those options seem dumb and the survey as a whole. They shouldn't be asking this at all when its obvious dual platformers got it for PS3 cause news broke out that its the superior version and only-360-owners had no choice than to get it for that console.

What a strange survey, its clear Square are just disappointed the 360 version didn't do well as they expected. I'm not sure IW put up a survey to determine why the 360 version of MW2 sold better than PS3. Square, you don't seize to amaze me

Well i bought a PS3 in 2007 expecting Final Fantasy XIII to be a PS3 exclusive, the thought of it going to the 360 never even occured to me. When i heard it would also be on the 360 i did exactly feel cheated, because i preffered the PS3 in genereal. As i don't have a 360 the natural choice would be to get it on PS3. And i am glad i had the better version of the two, i admit i don't particualy care about the multiple discs FFVII,VIII and IX were all the same. However what i did want was FFXIII in the best quality i could be possible experience, which i felt i got with the PS3.

My brother gave me his PS1 with a copy of FFVII for my B-day long ago. Then when the PS2 came out, I bought it because I knew that FFX would come out for it later. But by the time the PS3 came out, I just got because I loved the first two machines..... And for once FF didn't sway my decision, and I absolutely love this console.

it just belongs on the ps3 period.... the history the fanbase... 50% of why i got my 600+ ps3 in the first place way before it was announced it would go multiplatform... what gets me is the "did you enjoy the xbox community" WTF is that? its not a online game..... this isi just BS and is the reason why im just renting this game from gamefly.... i havnt seen ONE commercial for this game for the PS3... but i see the xbox market it like its an exclusive... I honestly hate the direction this franchise took after final fantasy X... x2 was very girly? almost felt like gals night when i played it

PS3,

-1 disc,
-I have a 46inch full 1080P TV and I didn't want to get crappy video resolution from the compression on the 360 game,
-The game was first made on PS3,
-Uncompressed sound is pretty neat.
Final Fantasy is pretty much the reason I got a PS3 3 years ago.
-My 360 died on me 3 times and I didn't want to have to postpone my gameplay if it happened again LOL.

*So um yeah why not get the superior version on a system that won't let me down* Is what I thought.

Choosing FF on Xbox over, PS3...The only reason you should pick the Xbox version is if your family is tied up with a AK-47 to there heads, your gf/bf is threatened to be raped, and you...yourself have a desert eagle to your head.

Bottomline, 360>PS3?? Your nut's and outta your mind...

i bought it on ps3 because

a. ps3 is my console of choice
b. it is blasphemy to play it on anything else

errr...because the 360 is a piece and Final Fantasy has traditionally been a Sony exclusive.

I filled mine out yesterday. I made no mention of my disappointed about this game being dumbed down for the DVD format. i did however let them know that their attempt to "Westernize" their games has failed miserably and that us long time fans of Square and Final Fantasy and most of us agree XIII is the worst of them all.

I also sent them an email about a week ago letting them know just how disappointed in FFXIII i was. Surprisingly they replied with an apology and advised our feedback is welcome and all will be forwarded to their superiors. I suggest all of you who have played FFXIII(who were underwhelmed) or who have just been annoyed with Squares behavior this gen shoot them an email. Only takes 5 minutes.

Why did you select the PS3 version?

* Prefer PS3's graphics appearance (check)
* Controller preference (maybe)
* PlayStation Trophies (doesn't matter)
* PS3 is my console of choice (check)
* PS3 version had only one disc (check)
* Other (it was originally made for the Ps3 anyway)

you know wut, for me to answer their questions, I only have one answer as below:

"The 360 version SHOULD NOT have been made in the first place. FF13 should stay as PS3 only, and should have towns, free exploration and a world map."-- that is my only answer, period.

You know, it's not my fault nor our fault that the people at Square Enix feel like dumb-asses for porting FF13 to the 360. It's not our fault that they decided to market an exclusive FF13 360 console that won't be worth sh** in years to come.

Square Enix feels like idiots for selling out their Final Fantasy series for a chance at better numbers or more dollars in going muti-plat. Well let the numbers show that without an exclusive Final Fantasy XIII PS3 system, more units of FF13 sold on the PS3. Imagine if they had brought out a FF13 PS3 system, numbers would have covered what the 360 sold.

On other forums/sites I frequent, people who chose the 360 version (including some who owned BOTH PS3s and 360s) said it was because of their friends list/achievements... I mean, REALLY now? They willingly chose the technically inferior version just so they can show their list of XBL friends that they are currently playing FFXIII at any given moment + the possibility of using cross-game chat (which I can kinda see as a positive, since some of the battles can get monotonous).

But still. Foolish reasons from them all
