RDR Multiplayer: Mexican Standoffs, Dead Eye, More
While we get the feeling that the focus will be squarely on the single-player campaign in Red Dead Redemption, the game will also boast a robust multiplayer option, too.
To learn more about it, check out the latest video featuring the "Multiplayer Competitive Modes." Rather than just letting everyone throw down in a massive gunfight, Rockstar has gotten a little creative: firstly, every contest actually starts out with a Mexican standoff, and the winner gets a head-start on the map. How freakin' cool is that? Plus, the totally revamped Dead Eye mechanic will be available in multiplayer as well; this is the feature that lets you target specific parts of your opponent's body before unleashing a rain of deadly bullets. Plus, weapons like the Gatling Gun will be found in the multiplayer modes as well, which include Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch, and Hold Your Own, which is based on the very popular Capture the Flag idea. There are multiple bags of gold out there, and you have to get just one of 'em... Lastly, all of the online modes grant progression across weapons challenges, and your ultimate goal is to snag those coveted golden guns.
Red Dead Redemption is rapidly shaping up to be one of the most impressive games of 2010. Whoever would've thought that a Western-themed shooter would hog the spotlight in this industry?

Day one purchase for Grand Theft Horse for me...lol
I've been wondering something about the shootouts and showdowns portion of this game...any one know if R* is going to be doing any development of this game with the Move?
As much as I'm not overly sure about the PSMove yet, it would be kind of cool to do some quick draws with it..

The "Free Roam" multiplayer mode looks like a lot of fun too! Form a posse of friends and do, well, whatever! Hope the game lives up to all the hype!

I think rockstar wanted to keep the experience the same in both ways of playing, so far it loosk like they've done a great job!
And for the competitive modes, they are just a plus in this huge game! I cant wait!

western cowboy + wide open world = the best possible formula for a video game.
but will R* pull it off, or will this be another sinker in the line of shitty games they have released this gen?
R* use to be king of the open world game, its sad to see them fall from grace.
i hope for their sake this is better than that last open world pile of crap they released.

Most of those complaints the game had was simply due to the fact that it wasn't like San Andreas. Boo fvckin hoo, deal with it
