SyFy And THQ Team Up To Deliver Red Faction Movie
Well, it seems logical. The SyFy channel really should be more involved with the gaming industry.
Back in February, publisher THQ and the SyFy channel revealed a deal that would put THQ's de Blob on TV screens. And as Broadcasting & Cable reports, the duo is at it again: we're going to see an upcoming telefilm based on the popular and critically acclaimed Red Faction video game franchise. This will be a full-length, two-hour movie and it could be a pilot for a new TV series based on the RF games, which - if you couldn't figure it out - was inspired by the film, "Total Recall." Said vice president of SyFy Ventures, Alan Seiffert:
"It is the kind of content that fits our genre. It is a great fit for a big Syfy Saturday movie, and if it really works, it is a great back-door pilot."
On top of which, the door swings both ways with this deal. Future Red Faction installments will be co-produced by the SyFy games label, so it seems like everyone emerges with a piece of both pies. Finally, according to THQ's latest financial report, Red Faction 4 has been pushed up; it should be ready to go during the company's fiscal year (which ends on March 31, 2011). CEO Brian Farrell said the game's launch has been moved up to build on the popularity established by Red Faction: Guerrilla. Don't want to lose the momentum, ya know?

So hopefully they spend that budget to make where ever they film look like Mars and the action scenes don't look too bad.

I doubt it will be anywhere near Mortal Kombat 1, one of the better video game movies ever made.

I'm a big fan of the games, even though RF2 left alot to be desired as far as gameplay went, the story line is great!
I will be watching this movie for sure!!

playing through this now as theres nothing else to play and ive forgotten how amazing the game was.
just the destructible environments, the physics engine OMFG!
i cant wait to see what Stewart black and the masterminds do with it!
id love to see another red faction game, but please this time go back to the series original roots.
a spin off is all good and dandy, but sometimes you just need to bring the series back to its roots.
*cough* prince of persia *cough* *cough*

Is it just me or did their quality take a nose dive when they decided to go all new millenia and change their name to SyFy instead of SciFi? If it's Science Fiction, then it's SciFi. Not sure what in hell SyFy stands for, perhaps it's just a dumbed down version of SciFi, just like their content?
Run for the hills people, this movie will smell worse than the last 'for TV' Highlander movie they made.
