Free Realms Finally Confirmed For PS3

They've always said the PlayStation 3 version was imminent, but they never gave us that official confirmation.

But it's here now: on the anniversary of the day Free Realms launched for the PC, Sony Online Entertainment has announced that their family-friendly MMORPG will be coming to the PS3 and furthermore, they plan to show it off at E3 this year. We'd like to know if PC and PS3 players will be able to go adventuring together on the same servers and of course, we need a launch date for the PS3 version, too. At this point, we could probably guess that Free Realms will be available on Sony's console towards the end of the year, but that's only a guess until we receive the finalized date (and maybe we'll get it in June). If you're unfamiliar, this is a game along the lines of old MMOs like EverQuest, only with a distinctly cartoon-y feel to it; the depth is still there (we think), but it's not as much about bloody battles as it is about a feeling of immersion in a large, colorful, interesting world.

If this appeals to you, stay tuned for more info on the PS3 version. We expect to hear a lot more about it in the coming months.

JEESE...I totally forgot about the Agency...wasn't that announced like back in '07?! What the heck... I mean the graphics were outdated back then...but now it's just a joke. C'mon Sony pull it together - well then again...they have done well in trying to deliver the best of the best...but hey look after some new IPs which could have massive potential once in a while.

I had a good time with this on the PC but I didn't stick with it. I'm hoping I can pick up on the PS3 where I left off on the PC. I'd hate to have to do all that cooking over again...

I have to say if Sony implements cross platform (or platform agnostic) play so that I can log on to free realms from my PC or my PS3, that will be a great feature to have.

Could prove popular.

I'm pretty certain that Free Realms is free.

There are micro transactions though. Similar to Home, there are add-ons available to purchase, but they are not mandatory.

@ ya'll suggesting that its free because of the name , it could not be the case as free could also mean "liberate" remember the FREE HAT incident ;)

It is basically an item mall MMO setup. The game is completely free to play, but if you would like to purchase bonus items then they are available. Those items are not required but are there for the people who want to spend money on the game.

there's the google search link, right under free realms it says, Play now for free, so now it's clear for everybody.

Will this be free? It has "FREE" on it. Would like to see this as another app in the XMB like Home & MLB.tv

From what I understand, the PS3 will be accessible from the Sony Vaio...a little extra perk in the last update. So, really, this could be the beginning of cross-platform gaming which might nudge me in the direction of a Vaio for my next laptop purchase.
