PSM3 Teases "Top Secret" PS3 Exclusive Unveiling

The PlayStation 3 is well known for its lineup of top-notch exclusives, and it appears Sony is ready to add to that list.

As noted by PlayStation LifeStyle, PSM3 has turned us onto the possibility of at least one major PS3 exclusive, set to be unveiled in next month's issue. They're teasing two "world exclusive" announcements for the magazine's next iteration, which should be available on June 3; they're not allowed to talk about either project just yet, but this has still managed to prompt plenty of discussion. However, as the source reminds us, PSM3 has done this before and it turned out to be F.E.A.R. 3, which most certainly is not a PS3 exclusive...let's hope they're actually right this time. The good news is they seem pretty confident; it's a "top-secret" reveal, so perhaps it's a title we'll all recognize and have long anticipated; Twisted Metal is one option and Kingdom Hearts III is another. You can all forget about a Final Fantasy VII remake but we wouldn't be surprised if one of the exclusive titles was Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Yes, we already know about it, but Square-Enix has been hinting at a full unveiling for months now. The other PSM3 game in question could be multiplatform as the word "exclusive" isn't associated with the tease.

Really, I want to see more of Versus XIII. This one could help to restore lost faith in the franchise I've always loved as an RPG fan. As a gamer, I appreciated Final Fantasy XIII; as a fan...it didn't go over well.

Please let it be FFvsXIII. I didn't buy FFXIII because I knew I would be disappointed, so I'm just starving myself in the FF department. The old FFs aren't enough, I need a new one.

Visuals in FFXIII is enough to bring you through the game. I heard many people say it and I agree, don't think of it as an FF game when you play it LOL!
Try calling it something else. I like to call mine Finally Finish: Just playing to see the end, cuz I'm praying I can tolerate the game til then.

Yeah, dude, if you're merely not playing it out of fandom, don't think of it as an FF. I've chimed in a number of times in the disappointed parade, but it's still about to be my first platinum trophy game. Basically, it's good enough to invest time into. If you're that worried, though, just rent it for a week.

i agree with the others, dont treat FF13 as another final fantasy. as an action/rpg, its worth buying. just so you know, i dont thing VS 13 isnt going to be like any of the previous final fantasies either so i'm gonna go through it by thinking its a completely different franchise.

oh, 1 more thing wolf, nows the time to pick the game up, its 30 bucks at kmart right now.

And you're so right about FFXIII. Even my fiancee, who loves to watch me play every single FF, hates watching me play XIII. She agrees it doesn't feel like an FF even from watching it being played. As a gamer I love it because it's so much better than many RPG's out right now...as a die hard FF fan I must play it to the end simply for having the FF name attached to it. Oh well, here's hoping for Versus XIII will bring us back to the good old days.

"world exclusive" is not the same as "PS3 exclusive"

Somehow I think the word "exclusive" is being thrown about to (purposely?) cause some confusion as to whether it'll be PS exclusive title or not.

I think it won't be PS3 exclusive but, rather, the announcement is exclusive to PSM3.

Most likely two exclusive interviews on a big multiplatform game. But I'm not surprised at least one of them is a Sony developed exclusive game though. Sony is cranking so many games out there, it's hard to NOT to get an exclusive interview for a playstation magazine.

I think it has to do with the break in their phrases, which they never use commas and colons in journalism headlines.

They probably meant:

"World Exclusive: Playstation Game"

instead just wrote....

"World Exclusive Playstation Game"

I was so hyped to see F3AR to be PS3 exclusive, then i read their headline carefully only to be disappointed.

I would love for this to be Final Fantasy Versus XIII. I want more details on this game and I want them bad. I think we have all waited long enough and suffered through Square's attempt to capture the COD market with a FF game. Now we are due for a real FF RPG experience.

HAWX is a good game, but the singleplayer missions are very empty feeling to me.

Ace Combat has always had stories I can get into, and with HAWX, the story seems tacked on.

But the flying is good and very enjoyable.

kinda off topic but did you see how guiness book of world records ranked the top 50 franchises of all time? i just saw it on kotaku and its just maddening, not just because Halo and COD took top 1 and 2, but the order of others are based on "gamers" preferences on people who seemed to only started gaming last generation. as someone who have been playing for a while, i'm insulted.

This is just my opinion, but I don't care for any of these games mentioned in the article. I personally don't care for another Twisted Metal. It was once fun back on PS2, but I don't know if I could take it serious at this time. Never heard of Kingdom Heart III, FEAR 3 is a weak series, and I'm hardly a fan of Final Fantasy. Only games I want to hear about are Demons Souls 2 (if it exist), Infamous 2, KZ3, Resistance 3, and maybe even a game that actually does something new like Heavy Rain.

Personally I have been waiting for Versus XIII due to the darker atmosphere. The only thing that I am not to excited about was that I had read somewhere that FFXIII would pay more homage to the classic turn-based RPGs than FFvXIII would. I don't know how reliable the source was when I read this about a year ago.

Hopefully it's Kojima's secret project... one that I'm praying to be a PS3 version of MGS: Peace Walker. That'd sure be a lot cheaper for me than having to re-buy a PSP just to play Peace Walker (which I'm tempted to do at this point). Have you seen the Limited Edition for Peace Walker? Sexy.

I just wish I could buy that Big Boss PSP bundle that's exclusive to GameStop in the U.S. I live in Canada and I wanted to buy it and ship it to my American address but apparently GameStop won't let me do that because my credit card is Canadian. Yes... I'm quite P.O.'ed right now.

There is "what it could be", "what I want it to be", and "what it's going to be". Maybe someday all of those will align and we'll get a remake of Metal gear 1 and 2 and FFVII all PS3 exclusive.

I hope it's going to be Twisted metal that game is the best I still play it. I can't amagine what the Sony can do with it now with the beast of a system they have, But another sequel I'll love to see is MGS Loved it even on the old PS.

PS Still waiting for GT5 and buying RDR this mounth.

Pirates The Legend of Black Kat 2!!!! God I loved that one. Why no sequel ever?

And what about Akuji The Heartless 2?

Those 2 and Medievil were my favorite games back then. Why do I always get screwed?!

I disagree with Final Fantasy Versus XIII acting as a 'redeemer' for Final Fantasy XIII. What's more, it's not a main installment which isn't indicative of the future of the series. The more fans have this zealous belief about Versus XIII clearing up XIII's mess, the more they'll be querulous if it doesn't.

I do have a predilection for its modern setting and philosophical references, but that's just where the hype ceases to exist.
