Rage Now Up To Snuff On PS3
If there's one game that might surprise you next year, it could be iD Software's Rage. And in a positive update, we find there's more reason for PlayStation 3 owners to be excited.
Last year, iD boss John Carmack admitted that while the PC and Xbox 360 versions of the game were running at a silky smooth 60 frames per second, the PS3 version was mired in the 20-30 fps range. This sort of caused the title to fall out of the limelight in the eyes of PS3 owners and besides, we've seen this type of thing before from PC-oriented developers. However, since that time and according to Eurogamer, the team has worked hard to produce a great game, regardless of platform. Rage lead designer Tim Willits spoke about how the game is actually more stable on the PS3 than the 360 right now, even though they showed off the 360 version during a live demonstration (when the game "seldom if ever dipped so much as a toe below the 60 frames-per-second watermark"). For the record, iD will still need 2 DVDs for the 360 version so once again, PS3 owners will have the benefit of one disc and of course, standard Blu-Ray high-definition. It's always good to see developers taking the necessary steps to produce quality for everyone involved. No more lackluster ports, please.
By the way, Willits also spoke to GameTrailers about how his game is more than just running and gunning. You should definitely watch that video; it might put Rage on your "most anticipated" list.

But is it just me or are FPS games incorporating more and more RPG elements into them? Are we going to see more and more of this and the eventual merging of both genre's? Fallout 3 did it, now this game seems to be doing it while adding a little Motorstorm action as well...
Is this the future of gaming? no more genre's just one giant cesspool of mixed games?

borderlands was cell shaded, they wanted to go for more of a cartoony light feel to the game and it suits it.
borderlands is a humerus game, it does not take itself seriously it has a good sense of humor so normal harsh graphics like fallout 3 would not suit.

Maybe Sony sent some of their boys over to show them how to code for Cell?
I would love to see an actual demo of RAGE running at 60fps on the PS3. Until then, I'm not too excited yet...
