UK PS3 Price Tag Revealed?
We still don't have an official release date for the two PS3 models in the UK, but we might have the prices. According to Sony's PS3 website in Ireland, the powerful console may be entering stores in the region with a higher price tag than originally believed.
If we can put any faith in the numbers, it appears that both the 60GB and 20GB models have increased by 30 Euros: 629.99 EUR and 529.99 EUR each. Looking at the Euro-to-GBP conversion, this correlates to a rise of about 20 quid, but even so, it's hardly a crippling retail hike. 629.99 EUR translates to about 413.96 GBP, which is still a tenner cheaper than the region expected to pay in the first place.
Sony has stated it's "very likely" the 60GB PS3 model will release in the UK with the recommended retail tag of £425. We haven't heard anything about the 20GB PS3, but if anything, it might fall in price, as it did in Japan. Either way, Sony should officially announce the prices - along with a solid release date - within the next few weeks.
