Red Dead Redemption Releases Official Launch Trailer

It's one of the most anticipated titles of the year and now, it's only a few days away! To celebrate, the launch trailer is here.

Set to release on May 18, Red Dead Redemption has already raked in a few super high review scores, including the very recent 10/10 from OPM, and we're very excited. This launch video highlights the host of eclectic characters and various backdrops, including the slowly developing New Austin and the revolution battlefield just south of the border. Rockstar would also like you to know that all the music in these RDR trailers comes directly from the game's official score and soundtrack, produced by acclaimed recording artists Bill Elm and Woody Jackson. Other exclusive tracks from contemporary artists like Jamie Lidell, Jose Gonzalez, Ashtar Command and William Elliot Whitmore are also featured.

Okay, so what do you think? How long have we been waiting for the defining Western-themed shooter? And given the open-world format, you can explore the vast landscape almost whenever you wish, and approach the diverse objectives however you see fit. As I've said before, it sort of reminds me of a Western Assassin's Creed and that is quite the premise. We may be a ways from the next Grand Theft Auto but who cares; we're getting Red Dead Redemption!

There aren't many wild west shooters as the only one I can think of for PS3 is Call of Juaraz however you spell it.

With the early reviews confirming the greatness of this game, I finally gave in and pre-ordered it.

I loved watching Deadwood. I'm going to be tempted to cuss it up when I play this online, Al Swearengen style!

I think the score for the PSX review will be in the 9s, higher 8s at least :)

i predict a 9.9... if GTA IV got that, i would imagine this game would be in the same ballpark as it looks to be just as revolutionary with the whole ecosystem and online lobby mode... R* likes to innovate...

True, IGN would probably give a score like that, because usually, they give really weird scores...the score the reviewer could give off if you read his/her review would be like 7.0, but the actual score is 5.1. Weird O.o

This is one looking cool game. I seen a movie tonight in the cinema (A Nightmare On Elm Street which I enjoyed surprisingly) the trailer on the big screen came on for RDR and it looked amazing my cousin was impressed too.

Gonna be great! After I played Red Dead Revolver I wrote a Western/horror/time travel short story called Revelation Revolver. Hope I get inspired again.

Well, I have said it before and I will say it again, Westerns just aren't my bag but every now and again something comes along that makes me tilt my head to the side and say hmmmm maybe it isn't so bad. 3:10 to Yuma being one this being another.

I have to admit, that trailer has perked up my interest in this game.

damn you R*, your PR machine is really starting to get to me now... we're just days away and you keep pumping us full of lead, i mean, content... my head is about to explode!!

i haven't been this excited about a game since since GTA IV... i didn't allow myself to get over-hyped but, now that the day is fast approaching, the hype is starting to reach the ceiling for me... i don't know how much more new information i can take in before i go over the top but, i just simply cannot wait to play this...

i wonder how soon we can expect a PSXE review? ben's been playing it this past week, i just know it... lucky bastard :D...

Definitely getting it first day,it looks really great.Grand theft auto 4 in my opinion was kind of underwhelming & i found myself liking the previous iterations better.

Red dead redemption looks really great though,especially the multiplayer.By the way I'll be needing a posse so if anyone is interested my PSN is XxNoir--

I'm uber excited, have been, will continue to be. Sadly game comes out on my wife's birthday so I probably won't get to play it until after she goes to bed that nite. Oh well, I'm up all nite anyway so a nice quiet undistracted 6-8 hour game session will be waiting tuesday nite.

I just saw me some Clint Eastwood ("Pale Rider") tonight to get ready for this game. Marston looks more like the lead from "The Lost and The Damned", but with long hair. I reckon the same voice-over actor is being used, too. Even still, this game is gonna rock.

where are all the reviews?
this is releasing 2 days earlier than alan wake, 7 days earlier than mod nation racers and STILL no reviews.
both mod nation racers and alan wake started getting reviews last week for crying out loud!!!!!
hmmmmmm, wonder when my gameinformer mags coming in, it was suppose to be here thursday.

I wish it reminded me more of a Clint Eastwood spaghetti western - you know, with rather laid back and uber-cool characters. It seems more like a western version of a current video game. And why do all the colors look so washed out? Was that a stylistic choice or something?

Oh well, I'm sure it will be awesome. Now if I only didn't have so darned many other expenses :)

This Game is going to be a goty atender. I preorderd it last saturday. This game looks sweet like i've said before. I can't wait tell the 18th, A late B-day present but Thats ok It'll be worth it. I would like to see GT5 goty but if this game takes it's place I'll be plenty of happy.
