Red Dead Redemption PS3 Boasts Exclusive Content
Sometimes, developers toss in a few pieces of exclusive content for one version of a multiplatform game, and it appears Rockstar has done just that with Red Dead Redemption.
One of the most talked-about games of the year will launch for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 next week but PS3 owners stand to receive some bonuses that won't be found in the other versions. Examiner.com went and looked at the back of the retail box, which you can see clearly in some pics through the previous link. Right there is a big ol' announcement saying that both Solomon's Folly Gang Hideout and Walton Gang Outfit are exclusive to the PS3 version of RDR, although we're a little hazy on the details. They're likely bonuses for the online multiplayer modes - such extras usually are - but you never know...maybe you'll actually be able to access the content in the single-player campaign, too. Either way, we're wondering if the other versions boast something similar; if any of you happen to see the Xbox 360 retail box for the game, check it out, will ya? See if there's any exclusive content for that version and if so, let us know what it is so people can do a little compare-and-contrast session.
As they remind us, Rocksteady gave PS3 owners some exclusive bonuses in last year's Batman: Arkham Asylum, which turned out to be a good move as the PS3 version sold very well.

Most likely the polygon count in all characters in RDR, like in GTA will be lower cause it's open world. The PS3 will version, will have the blur effect, which actually makes it easier on the eye.
(Hope for the worst, things will get nothing but better from there.)

As long as the game plays well, I'm not so concern with the subHD res, but low frame rates, popups, and glitches, would really kill what its shaping up to be a GOTY contender...
I'm not so afraid thou, they seem to have got the hang of it already with the PS3 :)

It benefited from a hard drive installation, resulting in less pop-in, and smaller load times. It also benefited from v-synching, having no screen-tearing. And although, the resolution was less than 720, it is upscaled to 720, and even 1080p (by unselecting 720 in the xmb settings) with little to no performance-hit such as in framerate. The 360 version seemed to suffer less during frame-rate crashes, but otherwise was identical in terms of framerate
The ps3 version of gta4 is said to even have better draw distance, and have more on-screen objects (vehicles and people). And the motion-controls have been relatively well implemented.
Conclusion: Even if Rockstar Sandiego did the same quality work as Rockstar North in terms of porting quality, ps3 owners got nothing to worry about. Sure, with bluray, ps3 owners should've expected more content, many more and larger areas, and so forth, but as it stands, this game will have so much to digest as it is (if gtaiv is any kind of indicator).
OT: Has anyone noticed how GTAIV plays since the most recent patch (I don't know how actually old the patch is)? Nico moves and runs like he's on speed now. Even faster than Louise from TBOGT. And please correct me if I'm wrong, but I've noticed that even if you get the Episodes from Liberty City on disk, some assets like vehicles and character models seem to carry over to GTAIV.

The fact of the matter is that these games are obviously first developed for the 360 because it is more feasible to fit a dvd on a bluray, than the other way around. And because of that, to be on the safe side, that is the choice of platform they will use when showcasing the product, to reduce the chance of unexpected bugs marring a demo or a presentation.

Also I'm suprised this game is getting hyped as much as it is.I'm glad it is though. Should be an interesting battle between Pop and RDR on May 18.
