Rumor: Move Lands On Store Shelves September 2010

We know PlayStation Move is scheduled to launch some time later this year - likely fall - but Sony has yet to narrow down the date.

Initially, the fancy new motion-sensing technology for the PlayStation 3 was supposed to have released in the first or second quarter of this year, but Sony wanted to have more compatible software on shelves when Move debuted. Hence, the delay. And we've heard hints and whispers that we should probably expect an October or November launch but according to Gadget Show head Jason Bradbury, it'll actually be ready for the consumer in September, which is more like the end of summer. As Bradbury said on his Twitter page:

"... another thing I was meaning to say. Sept for PlayStation Move!!! I'm sure of it. Can't say why. Just.. September 2010."

We may have our reservations about Move but there's no doubt that it's a new piece of technology, and one that likely deserves some attention. Can it wrench everyone away from their precious Wiis? Can it top Microsoft's Natal? Will the games truly represent distinct, unique experiences that actually up the level of immersion on the part of the player? All of these are questions that require answering and if Move arrives in September, we'll have our shot at the answers before the leaves fall from the trees.

lol that doesn't matter dood. The only important thing is that it will bring a new crowd to the ps3. Casual gamers. More and more people are tired of the Wii because it has no potential and looks like crap on their HDtv.

So Move is going to be there to steal those people away from nintendo and to lure a new type of consumer. But at the same time give us something fresh if we want it. There is nothing bad about it and no one HAS to get it. It is just a new way to entertain yourself on your system. No cons.

I just caught Wheezy from the old Jeffersons show singing the Move'e praises....."

Well we're MOVE'n on up,
To the the motion-sensing big times.
To a deluxe MOVE & a Sony PSEye.

MOVE'n on up,
To the big times.
We're finally getting another piece of Playstation controller pie.

Wii's don't waggle in the kitchen;
but 360's do burn on a RRROD grill.

Took a whole lotta Microsoft's a-fryin',
Just for MS to reach the bottom, of the PS3's hill.

Now we're up in the big leagues,
Gettin' our turn at MLB's newest at-bat.

As long as we live, it's you, me & the PS3, baby,
There ain't nothin' wrong with that.

I like Jason Bradbury. This will also be a good "Move" for Sony, to beat Project Natal to the punch.

I'm really looking forward to it. I thought i saw an article of a website listing the Move itself for $60. From what I see, the complete Move package will be really expensive... possibly $180+.

I have not seen or heard anything even remotely close to that, so provide the link or you're just starting rumors.

godsman,

Can't find the original prices Sony started with so I think they took that earlier pricing schedule down, but these 3 Move option was all I could find right now....

Sony says the Move controller will sell in three configurations:

1. Just the Move wand for those who already own a PSEye camera,

2. The PSEye, plus a Move wand, and a game,
This option should sell for "under $100," said Dille.

3. And a full bundle which includes the Eye, Move wand, and a game,....bundled along with a PlayStation 3 console too.

It looks like it was a gamestop website. I get most of my news from playstationlifestyle. Their news always comes first. Reliable or not is a different story.

Interesting. Beating Natal to market. That's a very good move on Sony's part. I thought that MS was blabbing about beating Move to Market - by several months? I guess they live in a time warp or something.

@BikerSaint,

It's almost 99% positive that the Move+ Camera + Game bundle = $99.

Full Single player Move experience:
2 Move Controllers
Camera
Navigation Controller
Game

All that for $180+ is not farfetched. The game will not be a GoW3, or U2. It'll be short minigame like Wii Sports. To get another player, you'll have to add another 2 Moves. How can this be NOT expensive? Casual gamers hesitate to spend $299 for PS3 console, how does Sony expect them to shell out another $300 for 4 Move controllers and necessary items?

godsman,
I only replied in the "singular" sense since I didn't notice your original talking about multiple purchases, LOL

No worries for myself though cause I don't do MP, & I prefer to play my games alone.
That way I'm not rushed while trying exploring any game's environment.

FYI, if you don't already have a PSEye, try to find the "Eye Of Judgment" game bundle cause it already has the Eye & stand included.
(It goes for about $19.95 now if you can find it, & I got mine at Toys R Us just to grab the PSEye for $30 less than it goes for retail)

They can expect people to pay it because they pay $70 for each wii controller set up. I still think the move pieces will be cheaper than you are predicting but we won't know until they're on store shelves.

i loved the ape escape games, its been WAY! too long since i played one.
i just hope sony keeps the price reasonable, but it is sony were talking about so i wont hold my breath!

1 DS3 costs 100AUD, so i would hate to see what 1 move controller + 1 sub controller plus a playstation eye would cost me!!!!!

I quite like the Gadget show. Sure the presenters get over-excited by an Apple products, but it's better than alot of programmes on Channel Five.

Oh and here's the kin for his hands-on time with move:

Tiger Woods 11 needs to add in 2 hidden Easter eggs just for the "Move" controller.

1. the 'Move" helps Tiger improve his...er.... strokes....with the next mistress he's caught with

2. the "Move" helps improve Tiger's wife's aiming ability in teeing up her 3-wood shot, to a spot just slightly left center to either of his earlobes.

i just talked my fiancee's dad out of buying a wii, and talked him into waiting to buy a PS3 with move, and showed him this. he's been jonesing for games since his 360 red-ringed (big surprise!) and he's not exactly the wii demographic...and i showed him GT5 (he's a HUGE nascar fan, and of racing in general) and he couldn't believe that the trailer's graphics were in game. the free online sealed the deal.

i feel good, i feel like i helped the cause, if only just a little. :)

Yeah, good luck finding a PS3 in a store. All I see are 360's. Saw some new black Wii's.

Dang Sony and their shortage. Their sales could be so much better right now. Oh well, all I care about is games, since I already have my PS3.

Looking forward to this, but I do worry cause I have a Wii nothing really good out for that lately (come on Zelda) as long as Sony keeps up with the games being released for it, i'll be happy.
