Capcom Has An E3 "Bombshell"

Capcom may be ready to unveil a very big sequel at E3 next month, which means y'all can start guessing now.

The rumors are flying through multiple sources: whatever the game is, it's supposedly in development at a Western studio and we already know that Capcom plans to use more western developers for various ports and sequels. Such designers won't get a shot at making new IPs but at least they might be able to produce excellent follow-ups in beloved franchises. GameFly editorial director Garnett Lee said Capcom has an "E3 bombshell" in his most recent podcast, which means a Western studio may be working on a new Devil May Cry or Resident Evil. As for the latter, producer Jun Takeuchi has reportedly said he wants to move away from the series, so... Then there's the possibility of a new DMC, which had been rumored to be in the works at Heavenly Sword developer Ninja Theory. However, the latter group is working on getting Enslaved ready for the fall and they're not a huge studio, so that might not be accurate. Of course, I still want another DMC because those games typically kick a lot of ass and I freakin' miss Dante.

But what do you think this "bombshell" might be? Or are you even buying the possibility that it's a "bombshell?"

Never going to happen, unfortunately.

I say that because if they do announce it I will flip my stack and have a raging party at my house, but if they don't...and they won't...I won't be disappointed.

Really wish they would though.

yeah i know what you mean. i guess they think that it just wouldn't sell as much as RE or DMC.

oh well....

recently i've been playing onimusha 3 on my ps2 since my 60GB is on the fritz

DMC5 as a FPS!

I remember reading here a few months ago that Capcom was closing it's western studios or at least not using them anymore after flops like Bionic Commando and Dark Void. This is actually discouraging, not encouraging. To me anyway.

I love FPS, it's my favourite genre. I really hope you're right. I think most games would do better as FPS. Maybe Square will announce that they have added significant FPS sections to FFvXIII. I could really get behind that. Maybe they are working on putting in the option to have an FPS perspective to Marvel vs Capcom 3.

So, is Square Enix ready to publicly humiliate Sony again at E3? This year versus XIII is revealed to be a multi-platform title instead of an exclusive to PS3?

I'm annoyed at this Wada SOB. He singlehanded ruined Square. I knew this would happen from the beginning. If you wanted to make FFXIII multi-platform, then do so, don't say Versus will be exclusive, then turn your back and say we're looking into it.

I know FFXIV will eventually be multi-platform too, but stick to your words. Watch they announce FFXIV will be go multi too. E3 2009, exclusive to PS3. E3 2010, we're going multi. I can care less from Square now, giving us this BS. I am getting my RPG from Sega, there's nothing but surprises from them.

Not FPS jaw, its an oversaturated genre.

I much prefer the third person.

FPS's these days really have to have something to distinguish against the comptetition. I can only name three instantly remembarable action/adventure games from this gen; Uncharted 2, Assasins Creed 2 and Gears 2 (and Gears 3 does look brilliant, shame i dont have an xbox)

dude, i just read an article on kotaku that yoichi wada is "looking into" final fantasy versus 13 for the 360. first news i read today and it better not happen. wada that bastard.

Once Versus XIII gets annou8nced as a multi game, I'll probably throw in the towel and give up on gaming inevitably. Unless they make Versus XIII the way it should be on both consoles. Better on the PS3, a watered down last-gen version on the 360.

One can only dream now what a "true" Final Fantasy would look like on an HD console.

FF XIII was the biggest disappointment.

I thought the combat system would only start simple and then work its way up to being like the old-school battle systems. It never changed. A curse on the Auto-battle system.

If the game fights FOR you and all you do is run from point A to point B, then what's the freakin point?!?!?

You know what I think? Since this is Capcom we're dealing with, this 'bombshell' will likely be a totally new IP that's a shooter and is heavily catered to the west.

Crapcom doesn't have anything going for them, unless somehow they give up an Okami remake for the ps3, a new DMC that is as good as dmc3, or at least any type of game that isn't inferior on the PS3.

My guess, probably, it's not something new but Dead Rising 2 getting a full blow out on info and trailers.

Another Resident Evil, and as long as we're wishing, maybe they could make it a horror game this time. I'd rather see Onimusha though. Always loved those on the PS2.

None of Capcom's word's lately have been any bombshells, or even medium sized firecrackers.

They've been more like tiny sparklers that just fizzle out like the wet duds they've been.

Probably DMC5, lets just hope this one saves properly. DMC4 sits on my shelf, I couldn't get anywhere because it wouldn't save properly. F*ckin piece of Goddamn sh*t A*sF*ck motherf*ck waste of my f*ckin' money.

Super Street Fighter IV and Tatsunoko vs Crapcom are both pretty good. Other then that, they have been an utter failure this generation.

An RPG DMC will be great, cause after the first (one in my top fav games of all time) everything went downhill especially the last one. bad bad capcom. thank god for bayonetta :)
