Black Ops Trailer Debuts On ESPN, Explodes With Potential
If you were watching the NBA Playoffs last night on ESPN - the game where the Boston Celtics defeated the Orlando Magic to take a 2-0 series lead - you likely caught the world premiere trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops.
It arrived during the third quarter and you can bet it was a definite crowd-pleaser. One may not have expected a big trailer to air so early; after all, the game isn't scheduled to hit until November 9. But then again...we are talking about Call of Duty, here. And while I know we don't have a lot of FPS fans around here, you have to admit that this particular video looks very, very promising. We loved what Treyarch did with World at War and it looks like they're upping the ante yet again. If you missed out on the fun, check it out:
Pretty hot, yes? The visuals really appear to be impressive and the action is as close to a Hollywood blockbuster as you're going to get. There's no doubt that Treyarch is putting a ton of effort and resources into this one (as well they should), and we should all reap the rewards come fall. And we know the emphasis will be on multiplayer as it always is, but could you maybe take a cue from EA and dedicate one team to the multiplayer and a whole separate group to handling the single-player campaign...? Maybe then we'll get one that's worth the price of admission, for those of us who have no interest in online multi...

Most games that are multi-platform nowadays have little to no difference between the PS3 and 360 version so saying Black ops is going to be the bomb only on the 360 proves xbots don't know what they're talking about.

I have never cared about the singleplayer on ANY of the Call fo Duty's other then just beating them for the trophies (on easy, mind you).
But then again, this game will be won or lost online, and considering that when I played MW2 last week there was still around 500,000 people online, this game has huge shoes to fill.
Shall I mention the PSN records that the 1st MW2 map pack broke?

It's like when you look at a best buy, wal-mart or any other large retailers ads you never see any PS3's in there, it's only XBOX 360, any reason. Again wake up sony and please don't tell me that they are going to take over, if they advertised 3 years yrs ago there would be no need to "take-over" now.

But im suddenly more persuaded.
(This would be so much better in third person, or at least with a cover system, because then it would be less run and gun)

I'm talking about the air gunner mission with heat vision in MW1. That mission was the freakin' bomb and broke from the standard FPS style gameplay for a bit.
I was disappointed when MW2 didn't have anything varying from that FPS style the entire time, and that I'd finished it 2 days after buying it.

It's also amusing hearing my PSX friends regularly whine about FPS's (COD in particular), and then complaining about how the 360 logo appears at the end of the add....as if they care all of a sudden. If publishers would do marketing research based on the comments section at this PS3 site alone, the only game commercials you'd see featured for the PS3 would be mediocre JRPG's.

All the people he's making fun of are saying is that they should not advertise it exclusively for one system. Even if the people who are complaining don't like it, I'm sure there are people who have PS3s who would like it and would be mislead by the ad into thinking that its only for 360 (which is not impossible btw, a lot of people are stupid enough to not do research on that).

EA sent me this trailer yesterday & I was pleasantly surprised by it, but was also sickened to see that f*cking MS had struck again with just their logo at the end of it.
Anyway, once added to the other more cryptic trailer where they had juiced him up for info, COD:BL is looking better than I thought it would.
But, I refuse to give anti-vision even 1 single red dead redemption's worth of my money, so it will wind up definitely being a used copy.

If the single player is longer and more varied than just "run here, shoot this", I'll be a little happier.
Will see how MOH compares. Either way, it's gonna be a preowned purchase for me.
Now, PS3 version on better tv or 360 version on smaller and older tv with net connection to Live friends?
Damn I wish my friends got PS3's over 360, but this was 2008 and PS3 was $300 AU more expensive, until the red ring catastrophe changed that and made multiple 360 purchases all the rage.

If it pulls off what I think it will this might be the first COD I actually buy. The others I just borrowed or traded but this one might just be worth it in my opinion....

Maybe I'm old-fashioned but MP for me is merely an addition unless it's a game that's specifically designed for MP-fun (ModNation, MAG, Halo ODST/Reach etc).
Thus I'd love to see a proper SP campaign in a good shooter (not a mediocre train-cash shooter *cough* like MW2 *cough*).
BO might actually be one of the new shooters I could really enjoy. Looking forward to this one, the trailer caught my interest.
