Jaffe Denies New Twisted Metal?

How long have we been assuming that Eat Sleep Play would eventually give us a new Twisted Metal? How many different hints and even pseudo-confirmations have we seen, even from David Jaffe himself?

Well, maybe we've simply been reading too much into that so-called evidence. Maybe all this time, Jaffe, Campbell and Co. have been working on an entirely different game; something original and unique; something unrelated to any past recognizable franchises. Or maybe he's just trying to throw us off the scent... Who knows? But one of Jaffe's latest Twitter updates reads:

"By the way, I WISH we were making a new Twisted Metal. Making game you've already worked on is tons easier cuz your core blueprint is."

And furthermore, he once again confirms that whatever the project is, Eat Sleep Play's new game won't be at E3 next month. We've been waiting to hear about the title for years now and don't we all remember that not-so-difficult code at the end of a PSP Twisted Metal entry...? Well, that was a long time ago and due to the complete curtain of silence since then, we're starting to wonder if Twisted Metal was once in the works but the team hit a major snag along the way, and now, the project has become something else. But as always, it's nothing but speculation.

I just hope they are making a TM. I remember having so much fun playing it. I wonder will this be a PS3 exclusive or muliplat? I don't remember if the ones in the past were on anything other then a Sony...
Because all I ever owned was a Sony:)

I'm fairly sure that sentence doesn't make any sense, or it was translated into Japanese and then back into English. At any rate, I tire of Jaffe's inability to prove that any sort of game even exists. So, yeah I don't care until someone condenses this vaporware.

1. "already there. This new game design stuff tho? Man, that is hard...reason I'm so stressed these days!"


2. "ALtho I gotta admit, doing new design/IP stuff IS fun. But days like today you just WISH you already knew the formula that worked!"



These tweets, along with the one mentioned in the article, pretty much confirm my nightmares...
Oh well... Let's just hope that this new IP will make us forget about twisted metal...

I don't really care if it isn't a new Twisted Metal. All I know is that Jaffe is doing it and that's good enough for me.

I think EatSleepPlay said they were going to use the Warhawk engine, no?

Assuming that isn't a poor translation? (I'm not sure how it could be), one could take it to say something like its going to be a new TM game thats nothing like the predecessors so in a sense it is new in some way that makes it not "a new Twisted Metal"

The guy gave birth to Twisted Metal and God Of War. Until he gives us a flop, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Whatever he's taking his sweet time to work on should be great.

I was kind of hoping it didn't involve cars as the main component. TM was fun in the PS1 days but I've moved on.

nah, if you ask me this actually confirms its twisted metal.
everything i have heard him say kinda hints to a twisted metal, because he has always said IF they do a twisted metal he would consider it a reboot.
now read that with the thought of a reboot in mind, makes perfect sense no?
ill eat my hat if his new project is not twisted metal!!!
but, whatever it is i think i speak for everyone when i say

That would be great if they announced Twisted Metal at E3, lol. What they're working on right now wont be at E3. Twisted Metal is already finished, lol.
