Speaking of exclusives, I wonder when Arnold's review for ModNation Racers is coming up. I wanted to buy it a couple days ago at launch, but I figured it be more prudent to wait at least for his review seeing how I already have like 3 arcade/cart racers.

It was fun the first time, now its just getting annoying, alot like Lost in fact. It was cool at first but once you realize that you are getting jerked around for 5 seasons, it just gets tiresome. And that is exactly what this has become.

And it is fun for me. And like I said in said post at bottom, with 160+ posts and only 1-3% of them being negative like you, obviously others feel the same way as I do.

Also, I never got into Lost in the first place, so I'm afraid I can't relate.

And why would you bother checking back here so many times if you find this stuff irksome? When I'm not interested in a particular topic, I just don't visit the topic... I don't try to make sure everyone else is disinterested, too. That's just weird.

So please... read that post at the bottom. Why do you get pleasure from telling people how unproductive and childish they are? Where's the disconnect in your psyche that causes you to have to correct other adults behavior on a topic that is of interest to them and not to you? I just don't understand why you need to take the time to be the minority on this issue to claim how dumb we all are for enjoying this type of hype and discussion.

Well, ok. Granted you didn't outright call anyone out.

But sarcasm is lowest form of wit and far more annoying than any episode of Lost, I'm sure. Granted, I've been known to throw out the sarcastic comment or two in the past, but I'm not one to sarcastically compliment someone as you did with the 'classy' remark. It's a bit of a pet peeve for me. One I'm trying to stop doing altogether. I mean, it bugs the hell out of me... so when I do it, it must bug the hell out of someone else, too.

My initial response was to coyly say with a tiny whimper that well... I find it fun! And to me, it felt like your mood surrounding what I said was that well it was fun, but now its a little irksome, childish, somehow beyond your level, and it just rubbed me the wrong way. Perhaps that read into it too much.

To be fair to you, I did respond to you immediately after responding to Crucher (Now a deleted user) and EducAsian, and chances are I was in a bit of a touchy mood. Perhaps I overreacted beyond what I normally write. Any other day, I wouldn't have responded to what you wrote, since it was rather tame, but I would still have the same opinion.

At any rate, I had completely forgotten about the secret game, and the teasing is something that hasn't been here in a while. I love this speculation. And it obviously generates good discussion, no? Looking back, I would have responded either not at all, or with a much more tame response. Afterall, when I read articles that don't interest me, I don't tend to comment, and I certainly don't comment about how annoying or dumb the article is. It might offend someone who is interested, you know?

First of all a PS3 Socom made by Zipper is far from underwhelming. Second of all take a nap. If it's KH3 I'd be happy, then again it's a PS3 exclusive, with the track record so far, anybody with a pulse (and good taste) should be excited.

Even if it's not something epic like GOW3 it's still going to be a great game. That's the beauty of the PS3 you really can't lose. Whatever it is someone will purchase it and I can't think of too many aweful games that are exclusive to the PS3 so have faith in your console and developers.

How many big annoucement games turned out to be a 7 or less? Give it a chance and be positive and you might get a nice surprise.

It sounds like it's a huge triple AAA title so no doubt I'm looking forward to what it really is. It amazes me more because I can't really think of anything else besides the other big exclusive titles that have already been announced.

However, it's also certainly interesting to note that someone here have guessed it in the forums and comments. Can't wait.

I would be shocked. All that FFVII is to Squeenix now is free publicity.

i.e. Wada (CEO, right?) wakes up one day and tells the press he had a dream about FFVII last night, and doesn't confirm whether or not it's in the works. Boom: everybody is posting on their forums and talking about Squeenix.

Being as the way sequels have been dominating the market as of late, I would have to guess some sort of sequel to a PSX title. Perhaps a Chrono game? Or (as the rumors begin to spread) Legend of Dragoon? Onimusha FTW? Who knows (beside the staff of this very site?

I look forward to that which awaits us. A title of such hype is sure to deliver. If not, c'est la vie.

Here's an updated list of what I think are the most plausible games (original list made back in August '09, in response to an update on the secret game)

Ben revealed the secret game is part of a franchise above(in the original article's comments section), so I've made a list of the games--that fit the known criteria--mentioned before the above quote.

*Most Plausible IMHO*
(1) Kingdom Hearts 3--"We know people have been waiting for the announcement...we know it exists...we know the confirmation is coming..." (quoted from the original "announcement" article)

(2) The Getaway--Development was put on hold so Sony could put more resources to other first party projects that were set to launch in the meantime.

(3) Siphon Filter 5--The "only real competition" MGS ever faced according to Ben; however, Ben has stated he is expecting this one (slip of the tongue?)

*Honorable Mentions*
(4) Twisted Metal--Ben and Arnold have made it pretty clear they don't know about Jaffe's game or a new Twisted Metal

(5) Heavenly Sword 2--The game sold poorly following its launch, so Ninja Theory decided not to make a sequel; instead going for the multiplatform Enslaved (which I, personally, am looking forward too).

(6) Onimusha--Fun game but is the Onimusha series a "system seller" as the original article claimed the secret game will be? Also, this a Capcom game, so...

(7) Hitman 5--Possibly in development at Rocksteady, though exclusivity is also doubtful.

(8) Dark Stalkers
(9) Bushido Blade
(10) Breath of Fire
(11) Colony Wars
(These haven't appeared since the PS1 days, as far as I can tell)

If you add in the fact (according to Ben's post to Oxvial up above in the comments) that it's a system seller but not one that would sell the console alone for Ben I am guessing your first answer may be correct. On the other hand... IF it IS KINGDOM HEARTS 3 do we really expect it to stay Exclusive? I have even heard the rumors of FFvXIII going multiplat so the whole exclusive thing is going to be taken with a grain of salt...

So just because I make a few posts about GT 5, all of a sudden I'm bashing GT5 and praising Forza "on most all of my posts"? LOL, nice try...but try again. All I said was that GT 5 has not looked all that impressive and it has taken nearly 6 years for PD to make GT 5 while in that span, Turn 10 has developed 3 AAA racers. I'm no bashing anything. I'm just stating the facts. Get your facts straight next time.

And Socom 4 is underwhelming considering how Socom Confrontation disappointed so badly.

lol, i wanted to do a background check too. I thought to myself, who is this kid and where did he come from? Not in the waiting-for-the-messiah sense, but in the how-did-all-these-earwigs-get-in-my-box-of-granola-bars sense.

I understand what you're trying to do in limiting possible disappointment, but this isn't an announcement from a dev that says we'll be blown away. It's this site saying they know of a new game coming, and they think it's huge and they hate keeping it a secret. Although this site does occasionally write topics to start discussion (video games vs. sex for a recent example), they don't exactly lie about anything. Especially something like this.

When to guard your hopes: When the site says "So-and-so says we'll be blown away, so it will be interesting to find out".

When it's safe to get your hopes out: "We know of something special, and we are convinced it will sell the console."

PSXExtreme is making the claim. Not some dev trying to sell a product.

I feel quite confident about my guess in previous articles, regardless of the developers denial of said game. Afterall, why wouldn't they deny it until a major announcement for maximum impact? The fact that it might not be at E3 is all the more proof to me.

I dont know what genre needs filling but;
Racing sim = no, we've got GT5

Arcade Racer = perhaps, there hasn't been one huge flagship title for the genre, there have been good games, but no game everyone instantly thinks of this gen for arcade racers

FPS: no, way too much coming out for it already

TPS(3rd person): maybe, because this genre hasn't been deply explored.

Fighting: perhaps but something more than just text and one on one fights a la street fighter. the gameplay is fun, but there could be WAY more to it. It's ripe

IP: something innovative. something that would make Mirror's Edge look normal. lets hope so. let's hope even more for a Mirror's Edge 2.

I think they will indeed bring over the first two Mass Effect titles at some point but I am not too sure about Gears. Who owns the IP on that? I thought Microsoft at least owned the rights to the first two titles but it could be Epic or Rare or Rage or whoever the heck developed it.

the graphics all around aren't that impressive in my opinion. Looks like a PS2 game sometimes with slightly better textures. And i don't know about you but i can tell its not in 720p. It looks dirty. but i suppose for some it could add to the feel of being in the Wild West.

Graphics aside, the game is quite fun to play. Much more then GTA IV and even Assassins Creed.

EDIT: I am also playing it on a 52" LCD tv so that may be why i noticed the different between 640p and 720p.

Basically, you're one of those drab individuals who has no use for anything impractical. Sure you can argue whether or not something is productive, but why should a site meant for discussions and news be 100% useful by YOUR definition?

I prefer to look at it's usefulness from another angle. I find it fun to hypothesize and read others' comments about their own predictions. To me, anyways, discussions are fun. Fun is a useful thing to have once in a while. Most of us know Ben wouldn't write something like that for the sake of posting. Chances are, he writes this because he's so freaking excited about it, but his lips are sealed... and this is his out, so to speak.

Obviously with 160+ posts on this topic, with only about 1-3% of them being people like you getting angry over nothing, most people enjoy this type of hype. It's fun, ok? How incredibly dull it must be to go through life only being able to appreciate things in a concrete, unimaginative, and proof-filled state. You are either a lawyer who's work is his life, or a sad and depressed individual who gains microscopic grains of pleasure from telling everyone how childish and unproductive they are.

Seriously, people who have a healthy psychological mind-set are able to maintain the occasional child-like enthusiasm and faith in things.

Of course, I'm a bit of a hypocrite. Here I was going on about how bad it is that you get pleasure from telling people how childish and unproductive they are, when I'm about to do the exact same thing to get microscopic grains of pleasure...

well... maybe I'm someone depressed but I will explain myself.

When you play a detective game... what is fun for me is navigate through the story where the plot slowly reveal me piece of information that allows me to solve a puzzle at the end... But imagine the same game that you do some actions which lead to nothing... this article do that... that lead you to nothing... No exclusive screenshot, no names, nothing...

You know when someone put a carrot in front of you, it's fun if you can catch up the carrot... Maybe you are this kind of person that like to run after something that you know that you cannot catch but just for the fun to run... Well I prefer to obtain something... That makes me someone depress, dull, well I guess I am... I'm also excited about new game and I like to scan article to have some puzzle pieces that give me the opportunity to complete the puzzle before the puzzle is revealed to everyone because I accumulate hints and works hard..

So for me this article is useless, no professional with lack of information (no information in fact) and a lost of my time (because some articles have real exclusive information and is what i'm looking for... For you, this article is a masterpiece that enhances your imagination, allow you to expose your philosophical point of view on people that don't like this article, stimulates discussion and give a sense to your life.

I guess that each opinion is valuable...

There's not much it could be that would make me excited given what we already know. It's not Final Fantasy 7, we know about Resistance 3, LBP2, KZ3, GT5, Dante's Inferno 2, DS2, and Kratos is getting a well deserved break so whatever it is I don't see it having much wow factor. It's not teasing people. It's fun. This is a discussion board and this is what we do. Think back to any Christmas as a child when you wanted like 50 things and you saw all the packages under the tree. If you KNEW what was in each package the presents would lose some of their luster.I myself love to be pleasantly surprised. The fact that Ben and others know what it is and aren't telling us is great. Gives us something to TALK about and builds up the anticipation for some in my opinion. So, since this IS a discussion board and this section is about a future title why not take a guess as to what it is like the rest of us? It's all in good fun bro.

If it were in fact Rygar and done well it would be a day one purchase for me. That game was sooooooo freakin fun and it took my mind off of everything. I don't want an upgrade though. I want a from the ground up new game 2D with some 3d thrown in there and maybe some type of multiplayer. I'm not sure how that would work but it would be cool.
Also I want the entire soundtrack done by KoRn.

Yeah! Awesome ideas, Condemned. But maybe, they could give you a life bar so you don't die in one hit, and remember that Cerberus thing that looked like a turtle with three heads that you could only beat by getting him stuck in the wall? Bring him back too! And maybe some way to save. Or an old-school password system. :)
Such fond memories of my old NES. I hated trying to get the pulley attached. I always fell in the river! And throw some Slayer in there and it's a deal. ;)

I'm sure this won't be it, but I'd love Grand Theft Auto 5 to be PS3 exclusive, I'm sure I read somewhere ages back that Rockstar preferred the PS3 over the 360, but they have to make it for both because of financial reasons....

My comment was more I thought I read that Rockstar preferred the PS3, but were held back because they had to develop for the 360. The reason I believe that a lot of companies develop mainly for the 360 first is the DVD format. If they develop for the PS3 first, and the file sizes are over 7.5GB, then they have an issue. The new Medal of Honour and Castlevania are using the PS3 as lead.

@educasian: Ben isn't "teasing" us, he like a large majority of us are intelligent people who enjoy a good conversation and im sure all Ben means is that he enjoys reading or conclusions and assumptions about what this game could be, were this large think tank of gamers who like this sort of thing so do yourself a favor and jump out if your not interested ^_^

Wow, I'm really excited for this... I have so many amazing new games though for PS3 that I have to finish them all... hopefully this one waits a while.

And on an unrelated note, does anybody know the projected release date for The Last Guardian? I don't know if a date has been announced yet or not. Thanks in advance!
