Killzone 3 To Focus On Storyline, Hollywood Talent Tapped
Guerrilla Games has already said they plan to put a strong emphasis on the storyline in Killzone 3, and they're recruiting top talent to assist in that endeavor.
According to what the game's senior producer Steven Ter Heide told BitMob, the team learned a lot from Naughty Dog's Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (what developer didn't?), in that a lighthearted approach to a relatively serious plot works pretty darn well. As many of you will remember, the story in KZ2 was very dark, which Guerrilla acknowledges and although war is always serious, they're going to eliminate some of the "grim overtones" for the upcoming third installment. On the graphical side, they'll definitely look to upgrade and overhaul so we should once again get the best-looking FPS available, and as for the writing, they're attacking it with gusto. In addition to the new writing talent, Guerrilla has decided to tap Hollywood for some professional help:
"And at the same time we know that a lot of the strength of the story lies in your delivery, that’s something that obviously came from Uncharted as well. If you’ve got some proper actors in there and the chemistry between the actors is good, they’ll start to kind of improvise on the lines and make the story a lot better, because it feels more natural that way. So we’re also looking to bring in a lot of Hollywood talent this time around to make sure that the chemistry is there, and the level of acting elevates the storytelling as well."
We must wholeheartedly agree. Uncharted 2 boasted the most professional, most exceptional voice cast of the generation; it really was movie-quality. Therefore, it's not surprising at all to see Guerrilla wish to emulate such excellence, especially when they're addressing one of the few drawbacks of KZ2. The more we hear, the more we already love KZ3.

As far as slow to turn around, turn yourself around and see how much time it takes. If you can do it in .1 seconds then I guess KZ2 isn't for you.

It's great that they're focusing on the story though - every game needs a good story.

So, I like that they are toning down the swearing, and adding more quality writing (chars and story?).
This should shut Rico up a bit. Then, I'm hoping, in KZ3, Rico steps on a landmine.

I was thinking about it though, KZ3 will be refined and optimized in every way possible, but maybe for the next they could add more things to the story aspect. For instance, on certain games what you do and say effects the entire story and shapes what happens for the ending, to add replay value and much needed depth to a FPS story. But for my last question, the 3D will be optional right? I know 3D downgrades the resolution, but I hope the game has to be played in 3D.

they SHOULD have different reaction times for controls based on the weapon you're carrying. THAT would be realistic

Don't get me wrong, KZ2 had its dark moments, but more often than not they were trying to make some cliched military joke that stopped being funny 40 years ago, so the added "humor" won't help the story at all. I am willing to take a wait-and-see approach to this, but right now this is the only thing they've said about the game that I'm not liking.
