Ubisoft Confirms: Beyond Good & Evil 2 Is In Development
It seems like seven million years ago that we saw the teaser trailer for Beyond Good & Evil 2 and since then, we've heard next to nothing about its development.
Well, we've heard a whole lot of rumors about how the game was no longer in existence, that Ubisoft had already scratched the project and moved on to something else. This speculation returned a few days ago, when it was thought that Michael Ancel (creator of Rayman and said to be working on BG&E2) had left the company, thereby taking any hopes of an anxiously anticipated sequel with him. But Ubisoft has confirmed to Eurogamer that "there are no changes on the horizon" and that "yes," BG&E2 is indeed still in development. Perhaps this means we'll see more at E3; it's long past time that we get a glimpse of the game that debuted at Ubidays 2008, and while they're at it, maybe they could give us an update on I Am Alive. Whatever happened to that one? We're certain we'll see something on Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood at the show but Ubisoft has other potential gems in the hopper, and there are quite a few fans of the original BG&E out there... They've been waiting not so patiently.
If you're not familiar, it was one of the more well-received action/adventure games on the PS2 and it managed to generate a huge cult following. It's not revered with the big boys but Jade fans will defend her and her weird-lookin' buddies to the death.
