Codemasters Confirms DiRT 3 Along With "Some Surprises"
If you're a racing fan, you're well aware of the inherent quality found in the first two DiRT titles. DiRT 2 was a definite triumph, so we're very excited about a third entry.
According to Now Gamer, Codemasters has revealed that DiRT 3 is indeed in development and this time, it might even feature elements from the studio's upcoming F1 2010 title. In addition, the publisher plans to release the Platinum version of DiRT 2 for the PS3, which managed to sell 1.7 million copies since its launch in September. Even if you're not a fan of off-road racing, you should always consider purchasing a DiRT title; they're just so good. Said Codemasters brand manager Edward Newby-Robson:
"The racing studio is already well underway with the next project and continues to develop the EGO engine and push in-house technology to bring new consumer benefits. Some features which have as yet not been seen in a Codemasters Rally Studio game will make a welcome return and, of course, it wouldn’t be a Codies game without some new surprises. The nature of a unified engine means features developed for one franchise will benefit others, so you’ll be seeing the dynamic effects in Formula One 2010 in future racing titles."
By the way, that Platinum version of last year's sequel will be available next week, so you might want to snag one of 2009's best at the very reasonable price of $29.99. As you lie in wait for Gran Turismo 5, it's a great way to get your simulation fix.
