Snag God Of War III For Only $40

Normally, we don't do entire stories about single game sales. But when you're talking about a game that has the best shot at garnering the most Game of the Year Awards in 2010, it deserves its own headline.

A reader has informed us that you can nab God of War III at Amazon for the very agreeable price of $39.99. Bear in mind that this epic gem just released a few months back and on top of which, if you partake of this deal, the online retailer will toss you another $10 to be used towards a future purchase. For a game of this caliber to be available for $20 below the normal retail price less than three months after its original release...well, it's a deal and a half. Of course, we can't really imagine how any of you might have missed out on this brutal, memorable experience but hey, a lot of great titles have been released this year. Maybe you spent your money on Final Fantasy XIII instead (it came out within a week of GoWIII), or perhaps you had already dropped a ton of cash on stuff like Bioshock 2, Bayonetta, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Dante's Inferno. And maybe you just bought Red Dead Redemption, too.

Yeah, it's true. The cost can start to mount with so much goodness out there, which is why GoWIII for $40 is a steal that can't be missed, primarily because the game can't be missed.

Ben, as you mentioned, this is not something you usually run a story on, but it is greatly beneficial for us. And you are not going to run a story on every game deal you spot, or are alerted to. I would really appreciate a new link placed on the left side of this site, like you did for PS3 User Reviews.

Something like PS3 Game Hot Buys, or whatever.

Basically, it is just a rolling comment section where we can comment on the latest deal we found, or who is giving the best promotion for a new release. Being that these sales are time sensative, it would be nice where we can just click on a link, and members can report who has a great deal on a game, or what store has a buy 1 get 1 half off promo going.

Someone brought up that Walmart had 20 dollars off Just Cause 2 for a week, but he said it on the last day. I went the next day to get that deal, and it had expired.

I really appreciate it when members give heads up to deals they spot, but they mention it so infrequently, or the mention it too late. If we members had a place to go, where we can easily post our findings for the other members to benefit from, well, I just think that is a win win.

The way I see it, I only have two eyes, and I can't catch every deal, but wouldn't it be great if I had 30,000 eyes all looking out for me, and you and all the other members on the site.

I just saw this morning that Toys R Us is running a 2 day only buy 1 get one 50% off on ANY DS or Wii game. Obviously not PS3 related, but it would be nice to have a place that I can give my PSX brethren a heads up that theres an opportunity to pick up a few titles for a good deal.

I don't mean to give you more work, I just thought that you could put up a link that allows US to comment on it, and you don't have to do anything other than purge the oldest comments from time to time.

I find the forums harder to navigate than simply scrolling down on one of your stories.

It's $38.54 at Walmart right now but you don't get any Ecards or anything so it you miss the Amazon deal you can steal snag this great game elsewhere for close to same price. GOW 3 is a MUST buy at $60 so at $40 it should be a crime to NOT but it.

I noticed a bunch of games that were discounted at Walmart yesterday. Uncharted 2 was $40, The Saboteur $10, Sonic & Sega Allstars Racing $35, GoW Collection $20, etc. They even had the 250GB PS3 bundled with LBP and Uncharted.

Ben, this is exactly what I am talking about. Fluffer found some good buys on games, but probably would have never brought up the great buys he saw, and I certainly wouldn't have known about them had he not just mentioned it.

Scarecrow, God made me a flawed person. I eat at McDonalds, and if Walmart charges me less money for the same widget than at some other place, I will by it from Walmart 10 out of 10 times instead of paying more somewhere else so that I can say I stand on some fictitious moral highground.

Now, the deal has to be good mind you because I don't always enjoy socializing with some of the more interesting patrons of Walmart. Plus I think it smells in there. But I digress...

I tend not to post a lot of deals because there are other deal sites that post dozens of these things everyday. I just happened to see these deals myself before they got posted, which is rare. If more people want to participate in the forums, then I will surely make the effort to add more information. ;)

I missed it. But I've missed alot. I haven't been spending much money. Had to blow about $4k on waterproofing my basement followed by another $1k on my car... I've still got a massive 'to get' list. Might start turning around this month.

Maybe this should be my first purchase of the last 3 months since FFXIII (which I pre-ordered in December).

Well I have been waiting for GoW 3 for a couple of reasons.
1. even tho its uber awesome, it's still short, less play time means I wait until I can pay less money.
2. Not my favorite sytle of gameplay, but Gow does this style better than all else for sure.

This is this kind of game even uber awesome as it is, has quick price drops as seen here. All this tells me is that if I wait a few more months I can snag this for $20. So it's good news because it means soon I'll be able to play it. Patience can really pay off sometimes. Well, patience mixed with poorness lol.

That's a great deal.

Here's another one: MAG for $34.99 + a $10 credit on a future purchase.....again at Amazon.

As usual with Amazon, it's free shipping on orders over $25 within the US.

Amazon is definitely the place to watch for deals. I recommended that MAG deal, already, and I got Assassin's Creed II for 14.99 recently ($10 game purchase credit) and it came with another $10 future game purchase credit. That place just keeps on giving.

why doesn't amazon.ca have this kind of deal? i would definitely get it asap if its also on sale here in canada. i tried looking for a good deal at walmart here as well but they are still being sold at the regular prices. i would buy gow3 and heavyrain right away if i can find them for $40, on the otherhand if gt5 is out already i would rush to the store right away even at 69 bucks.

Hey Ben was that user who informed you me? I posted that in the forum about 3 days ago as well as a bunch of other amazon deals.

And unfortunately I only have enough money for when I get home to get me to work for a couple of weeks and one tub of protein (gym comes first in this case) so I'll have to wait for the next deal :(

Thanks Ben. I just ordered it from Amazon too. Also just for info...Amazon is selling Dual Shock 3 bundles with games for $60. dualshock 3 controller bundles are with Little Big Planet GOTY edition or Killzone 2 or Resistance 2 or Infamous. I hope amazon make further discount on those bundle for father day tho.
