Demon's Souls: Black Phantom Edition Revealed For Europe
It just has to be one of the coolest special editions we've seen, and it's bound to appeal to role-playing fans everywhere. ...too bad only those in PAL regions will get a shot at it.
According to Electronic Theatre, Namco Bandai has revealed the details of the upcoming Demon's Souls: Black Phantom Edition, set to be released in PAL regions on June 25. This great collector's set includes a brand new hardcover art book loaded with concept and game art, a strategy guide, and the original soundtrack, and although the source doesn't list a price, we have to imagine it's not exactly cheap. But at the same time, it's very likely that RPG fans in Europe and elsewhere have been waiting anxiously to get their hands on what is widely considered to be one of the best role-playing experiences of the generation. Fans in Japan and North America will absolutely defend it to the death, so that should say something. Sure, it's challenging - and some will say, "overly difficult" - but if you don't mind dying a lot, and you intend to be patient and vigilant, the rewards will be great.
Well, we know what RPG aficionados will be doing in a few weeks time: lining up for Demon's Souls. Too bad From Software says they won't be doing a sequel.

But also... a patch to sell equips you don't care about 'cause souls.... ahem - you play into a level, get far into it, die, souls gone, you have 0 money so you really can't buy any replacement pots/that thing against plague/poison which I struggled with.... then your journey back with your weakened character = higher chance of death = souls gone!

The game runs in a game-specific server
ATLUS runs the server for the US version
Sony runs the one for Japan/Asia
Namco-Bandai will probably run the one for Europe
PS: I can't play against those who bought the Asia/Japan version. But I know some who have bought the Asia/Japan version who can connect to their servers.

Think of what I could do with that same 10 hours? I could play through both single player experiences of MW1 and MW2. Or Alienange could come over to my house and we could watch Avatar three times in a row! Just like last weekend eh Alienange? Good times.

MW1/MW2 is twitch gaming
Sudden bursts of satisfaction
"OMG I got a kill, yaaaaaaaay."
VS
"I summoned 2 blue phantoms who guarded me against a deadly black phantom and then we took out that insane witch in the Tower of Latria. That was no easy feat!"
That's the purpose of an rpg, to overcome the most daunting of situations.
You really can't compare what you do in a FPS VS what you do you do in an rpg.
Mentioning Avatar is even worse.
PS: Nothing personal

One important thing for Demon's souls is to find your play style. Most people, myself included, instantly create a knight character because its and rpg and in rpgs you often play as a knight.
However on Demon's souls, knight is one of the hardest starting classes there is. You can barely move because your armor is too heavy and you are as slow as a 4,000 pound man in his recliner covered in potato chips.
I switched to a class with no armor and I found it to be a lot easier, easier to jump outta the way. Aaah demon's souls gets easier the longer you play it really. What a great game, lucky europeans.

@worldendswithme, you really need to give this game more time. The learning curve is high but the reward is immense. The Knight is a big mistake, try using the Royal. His soul light spell will get you through the first level. If you can get adept at doing a reposte, you will pwn any knight.
Australia too? My buddy has been urging me to get the Japanese version for 4 platinums, 5 is just over the top insane.

Ben, is this guy a certified advertiser for this website, or some random trying to sell their wares for free?
If it's the latter, please ditch fast.
I love the comments section on PSXextreme. Lets not bring it down with website advertisers.

And I know people argue that it is not that hard, but whatever, it is overly difficult in my eyes. I want to enjoy the game all the way through, but for a game to continually frustrate me, I just don't have the motivation to continue when I have so many other great games to play that don't beg me to slit my wrists.
