Capcom To "Heat Up" Resident Evil Later This Year?
It probably won't be Resident Evil 6 but it might just interest fans of the pioneering survival/horror franchise.
According to Andriasang citing a recent Nikkei BP interview, Capcom CEO Haruhiro Tsujimoto has hinted that they want to do something to "heat up" the series in September when the new movie hits theaters. If you weren't already aware, the 3D film, "Resident Evil IV: Afterlife," starring Milla Jovovich, is slated to grace the big screen on September 10. In allusion to this event, Tsujimoto said Capcom would "like to do something to heat up the game series" at about the same time, which has prompted much speculation and discussion. We suppose it could be an all-new RE installment, although it seems unlikely as we've heard and seen nothing about RE6 (unless it surprises the hell out of everyone at E3 next week). Perhaps it could come in the form of DLC for RE5 in the theme of the new movie, or maybe something episodic in digital form. There's any number of things Capcom could do, but at least we won't go through all of 2010 without an RE-related news topic.
There is an ongoing argument over the last entry in the series; i.e., whether it was great or merely average due to the controls. ...we wonder what Capcom will do for the next title.

I have to admit, I was one of those that defended RE4's scheme, and did so again (hypothetically) for RE5 before it came out.
My feeling is that RE5 was a great game, no doubt, it just could have been much better. Not only the control scheme could be improved, but so could that annoyingly slow inventory mngmnt system. That bugged me more than the lack of moving whilst shooting

I recently saw Degeneration, which was surprisingly good.
I think this will be episodic content for RE5, or maybe a controls patch.

Hang on... I just don't agree with you. they are full of suck, and were wasted money and potential. Resident Evil could've been a modern day reimagining of the zombie horror film, with george romero no less.

If they'd go back to the survival horror aspect of the series I doubt the controls would be an issue.

I dont get why people hated re5 , yea the controlls were crap , but everything else about the game was soo great , the graphics the coop the story (typical RE) story .
I am a big fan of the series , and i support Re games , The movies really suck though.
And com on capcom , blow us away at E3 with the new re and maybe the new DMC .
These old school titles are just the best. :)
