Killzone 3 Gameplay Trailer Will Leave You Breathless
It was quite the episode of GameTrailersTV last night, as the hour-long program featured Tomonobu Itagaki's new game and a guest host supermodel.
Arguably the biggest, most explosive debut went to Killzone 3 and the very first gameplay footage ever seen of Guerrilla's next potential masterpiece. We've heard about two fresh new additions: an enhanced melee combat mechanic, and the inclusion of futuristic jet packs. Well, you can see both on display here; the jet pack bit where the dude rips it off an enemy, puts it on, and proceeds to engage in combat while flying forward is just plain sweet. And of course, the game looks damn amazing, as expected.
We expect to see even more at E3 and perhaps the first release date estimation. They may do what the Sony Santa Monica team has done with the God of War franchise; i.e., release new installments in the same month. GoW has always been March, for instance, so perhaps KZ3 will be ready to go in either late-January or early-February 2011. Either way, it's going to have one hell of an impact on the FPS genre.

Uncharted: Among Theives...OH MY GOD!!!
Killzone 2...Great Game!
Killzone 3...so far, seems more of the same, and doesn't strike me as taking a GIANT leap from the previous game that Uncharted 2 made from its previous game.
Killzone 2 was a D-1P game for me, meaning, I was able to score it 1 day before it released so I guess that would make it a Day -1 Purchase? (Costco mistake, put it out a day early). Killzone 3 will also be a D1P. I'm not sure it can match the leap that Uncharted 2 made in all catagories though (but of course, who could).
Definately looking forward to it, but not because of what I saw in the trailer. It just didn't grab me like Uncharted 2's trailer did.
What's wrong with me, am I just getting jaded in my old age? This just looks like another level that could have been on Killzone 2.
Is there someone with trained eyes out there that can identify that the graphics have taken a huge leap from what Killzone 2 did?
When I think of how better sequels can be, I just look at the gap between Uncharted and Uncharted 2.

I don't think well see as big of a leap from Killzone 2 to Killzone 3 as we saw with Uncharted to Uncharted 2. Uncharted DF came out in 2007. Killzone 2 in 2009. Guerrilla had more time to work on their graphics engine. I think we'll better see the difference when we actually see it on our TV screens.

And I think their trailer from last night told everyone that thought KZ2 was not colorful enough to shut the hell up.
AND JETPACK ACTION!...hell yeah.
You gotta admit The Force Unleashed II trailer was pretty awesome. No gameplay, but freakin' sweet!

Killzone 3, so far, looks pretty. But I can't find myself being excited about it 'cause it doesn't seem to be a very story-centric or story-driven kind of game.

Have you ever seen any soldier running around with 15 different firearms + various sidearms and grenades + armor, leaping through the battlefield effortlessly, as experienced in all those others "non lame" FPS games?
I haven't.
Granted, games may be unrealistic but when I look at all those modern age shooters trying to be ultra realistic they seem kinda paradox to me.
Your PC can carry all the firearms he picks up all the time simultaneously w/o being affected by their weight.
I like the realistic approach KZ2 took, all those design/gameplay choices make sense.
Just because you enjoy unrealistic shooters that try to be super realistic nevertheless doesn't mean that KZ2 is a bad game.

I also have to admit that I have no idea what FPS games you're referring to. World at War, Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2, Resistance 2, and Killzone 2 all limit you to just two weapons per character. And in the case of all the Call of Duty weapons, the guns you have determines how fast you move and for how long. The bigger the guns are, the slower you run and over shorter periods. It's a complete pain in the backside to flee from a horde of zombies in Nazi Zombies when you have two heavy weapons. You don't get very far. So... what games are you referring to?
Annnnd, I never said it was a bad game. I enjoyed it, but not as much as everyone else it seems. I had a lot of issues with the game and its design, but I loved the look of it all. It was very pretty. But the controls, the hit detection (how many times do I have to shoot someone in the head before they die?), the non-involving plot, and a few other aspects left me cold. Which is why I've still not finished it.
I'm sure I'll end up getting KZ3, but I'm not excited about it.

at these days you dont compare KZ2 in reference to other game ,you just cant...... by delivering the best ever shooting game to this era, (KZ2) became the bench mark in which other are being compared with , is it as equal as KZ2 or is it close enough, and ill say it again games are not only about GRAPHICS , even so KZ2 is delivering an outstanding graphics ,its also about the game play and the stoy line ,all these elements were great in it
and beside that id like to see your running in the main street carrying a gatling machine gun ,huge grenade luncher ,a heavy armored suite sniper cannon ,heavy boots ,communicating device ,pistol and a little weight huge machine gun to how realistic will this be

Killzone 3 looks amazing, and I look forward to that game big time!
SOCOM 4 is another title I can't wait to see and play first hand.
GT5. Nothing new was shown that blew me away, but the end of the trailer? I liked what I saw. "Customization" was shown at the end of the PS3 only does, and that has me excited since that feature will be new to the GT series.

There's such a thing as a happy medium, which imo would be either 2+pistol or 1+SMG+pistol. It's not at all an unrealistic weight to be carrying and just that tiny tweak can give you actual options rather than for example just being a sniper who is practically defenseless once someone gets close.
Not to mention so many people think carrying a few guns at once is somehow superhuman yet they have no problem with most shooters now being populated by wolverines in disguise who don't mind being shot hundreds of times, just as long as it's not all at once.

Killzone 2 was, and still is one of the best looking PS3 games (and games overall of any system) to date with awesome detailed textures, physics with dangling wires, flags etc, weather/particle effects, you name it.
So far I don't see anything in this trailer that's even on par with KZ2 graphics :( That close-up on Sev at the top of the snowy mountain looks horrible, low detailed, flat textures all around. Come on, you can do better than this!
