E3 2010 Rumor: Sly Cooper Collection In HD And 3D
If you remember the good ol' days of the PS2 (and I can't believe I'd have to refer to them as "old"), you'll likely be excited by this news.
It seems a new rumor has sprung up around the E3 grounds, although it's more of a prematurely confirmed announcement. As revealed by several sources, starting with a blurry 1Up image from the currently unopened PlayStation booth, the Sly Cooper Collection, redone in brilliant high-definition and with 3D support is slated to be revealed in due time. Furthermore, speculation concerning other PS2 HD remakes is starting to accumulate everywhere, which follows hot on the heels of recent Sony questionnaires and surveys. You remember those, don't you? They asked gamers what old-school PS1 and PS2 titles they'd most like to see again with a fresh glossy veneer, and it's likely that Sly Cooper was high on the list for many PlayStation fans. Now, what other classics from yesteryear should come out with a new look? The God of War Collection certainly went over well...can you imagine Final Fantasy X or Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater in sharp 1080p high-definition or 3D? Nothing wrong with reliving those days in this fashion; nothing at all.
The good news is we only have to wait a few more hours before Sony announces this - which is likely - and we're hoping for more announcements of a similar nature...

You know, PS2 games start at a render target of 480i/480p. Even with a bit of an up-res they could easily render in 3D with enhanced visual quality (compared to the original PS2 version). Sly in 3D would be interesting. Ratchet and Clank remastered and in 3D would be awesome.

I think probably Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid 3 will really benefit from the HD upgrade. Even the impressive original God of War look kind of bad on HD. Some remakes will just not wow people visually, but frame rate upgrades are always welcome.

I mean that was such a damn good game for the PS2...I loved all of them. Now...thinking of it pretty hard I loved Jak & Daxter the best. Jak 2 & 3 WERE AMAZING THOUGH. But Jak & Daxter really had the feeling of its own world and beautiful concept.
Jak 2 & 3 were more..."mission" kind of stuff when Jak & Daxter was a more free open world find and do whatever you like whenever you like kind of thing.
I had it bundled when I first bought the PS2 on 2002 - ...I can't begin to explain the memories I had with that game. I mean wow...do I miss it. But again, Jak 2 & 3 were great too - I feel that it was influenced by the GTA series with the cars, enforcement, weaponry, and city like world.
BUT HELL GIVE US ALL THE PS2 CLASSICS REMASTERED IN HD!!! C'mon Tretton - do your stuff tomorrow lol!

Anyone else getting the feeling that Sony's conference is going to be EPIC?! Microsoft bombed hard. This is going to be the year that Sony retakes the crown (I don't include the Wii for obvious reasons).

But one series I haven't seen anyone mention when these discussions come up is 'Fatal Frame.' I don't know how well the games sold (enough to release three titles internationally, at least), but it would definitely be a killer collection to have.

Sly's so underrated. Yet anyone who actually plays the games comes out amazed at how clever and engaging the game truly is!
I hope this is true, it will expose a lot of ps3 fans to this great series. And then hopefully a sequel (gives Infamous time to rest a bit, an then come back).
