Bethesda Working On Oblivion PS3 Expansion
As one of the best role-playing games of the year in 2006, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has garnered huge critical acclaim and impressive sales. The 360 and PC versions already have legions of loyal fans, and recently, the Shivering Isles expansion was confirmed for the 360. When reading that article, you may notice the lack of an expansion confirmation for the upcoming PS3 version.
Well, while it's not exactly official just yet, several sites are reporting that Bethesda is currently working on that same expansion for the PS3 version of Oblivion, scheduled to release on March 6. We don't have a release date for the expansion pack, but we'll assume it's not far behind the 360 version.
The only other question is how the expansion will be distributed. Shivering Isles for the 360 will only be available through the Xbox Live Marketplace; it won't be on store shelves. Perhaps Bethesda will take the same approach with the PS3, placing the expansion in the PlayStation Store rather than packaging it up and sending it out. Either way, it's good to know the PS3 version of a fantastic RPG is getting the same treatment as other versions. And hopefully, it will turn out to be the best version, giving PS3 owners something new to crow about.
