Move And echochrome ii: A Match Made In Creative Heaven

Whenever I need a good humbling, or I just want to twist my brain into a pretzel, I give echochrome another go.

The wonderfully created and very unique concept was singularly impressive and although the sequel will be different, it should still be very original and very challenging. It wasn't part of Sony's E3 press conference but as Kotaku noted, this new PlayStation Move-compatible title should intrigue a great many creative-minded gamers. They compare it to the WiiWare game, Lost in Shadow, with the obvious focus on finding solutions to puzzles via "light and shadow gameplay." The Move controller will be used as a flashlight, and you will use it to expose hidden pathways and exits within the game. We should also be able to expect the same kind of user-generated levels in echochrome ii and that alone might be enough to entice those who wish to toy with the susceptible minds of their friends. There are a surprising number of possibilities for Move and provided Sony really takes advantage of that potential, it should prove to be a great peripheral.

Personally, I just want to be able to get to one of the last tiers in echochrome. The fact that I have extreme difficulty with the later levels obviously means I suck, but I don't care.

Sounds like fun. I like when you are really connected to a puzzle game, and this flashlight-shadow mechanic is like a direct line from your arm to the game. Can't wait.

Dude you have to try it. They're just black and white puzzles that have a stick figure walking along. You create pathways for him by twisting and turning the puzzle; the perspective means everything. So if you angle the puzzle so a bar is covering a hole in the path, the little man won't fall through. I.e., what you see is truth.

I agree with Ben on giving it a shot! It's extremely unique - I don't have a PS3 (like I mentioned many other times) but I have played it on the PSP and really really enjoyed it. It's soundtrack is gorgeous...of course the layout is simple but it honestly uses your imagination

and like Ben said "perspective means everything." - Just look at things as if you never saw them before.

Honestly really beautiful game.

So sorta like a perspective-based Lemmings?

Um, kind of. Classier and more complex, though.

There are demos for both PSP and PS3. No reason not to try them. :)

I tried the echochrome game in playstation home, I'm guessing the full version is a lot more complex than that?

Oh yes. The Home version is dumbed down considerably. It's a COMPLETELY different game/experience basically.

I'm stuck on the G levels on the PSP version... and have been for the last year and a half. Great game though. Whatever happened to echoshift? Oh, and if this is on PSP (unlikely with the seeming emphasis on Move, this is the first I've heard about the game, so clarification please.) I will definitely be getting it also.

Echoshift released a few months ago under different names in different regions. I have no idea if it is available down under or under which name you could find it.

I just looked and I don't see a European/Australian release date.

maybe this game would convince me to get the move... i'm a huge echochrome fan, i think it's a top 3 PSN title and deserves more attention...

i was excited when they released premium echochrome avatars last week, lol...

but, echochrome 2 with motion controls sounds like a match made in heaven... i'll look forward to your previews and reviews in the coming months...

echochrome...not Demon's Souls...has been the one PS3 game that I've actually thrown my controller in defeat.
