The Nifty Shooting Attachment For PlayStation Move

Well, they didn't show us this when Sony unveiled the launch details for the PS3 at E3. But it was mentioned in Sony's press release, now that we think of it...

If you download the Move Montage video found on the PlayStation Store, you will see a collection of upcoming Move-compatible titles, and the various ways in which we will utilize Sony's new motion-sensing device. Ranging from illuminating paths and exits in echochrome ii to petting your virtual EyePet and taking down bad guys in shooters like Time Crisis: Razing Storm. But how exactly will those shooting titles work...? Well, it seems obvious now: this nifty little attachment for the Move, which has popped up on Amazon for the price of $19.99, clearly designed for the games in question. It reminds us of the light guns of old, only with the modern technology that seeks to impress everyone with its precision and versatility. This nifty accessory oughta be fun to try, no?

At the very least, it's far better than just aiming the wand at the screen and pretending. There are many reasons that Move is beginning to grow on us, but you know, we still gotta dive in and try it.

Makes me wanna play duck hunt on the NES. But really? they should have showed something like this with the Socom gameplay or something, I'd much rather use something like this than the wand to shoot with, but still...really..already accessorizing the Move..

you need to use the analoge and buttons for socom, so this would be kinda worthless. The only thing I can see this working for is Dead Space Extraction

This would work with most gun games on rails, I believe.

I'd get two wands and two gun attachments. Play two player co-op by myself with two guns. I'd go freakin nuts.

You could use this with socom, you only need one hand to use this and your left hand can still hold the nav controller. No reason this shouldn't work with any shooter.

It needs some sort of scope or something to look down.

I have pretty shaky hands, and I know I won't be able to keep steady for shooting games. Like Snake when he was sniping. I'll be needing some Diazepam.

Lol. I was just playing Duck Hunt on the Wii the other night. The Homebrew version puts a "scope" up on the screen for you. Made it up to level 13, which I'm sure I never did with the gun alone.

I saw this on amazon and thought it was awesome. For the first time since NES I want to play a shooter. Controlling my character with the nav and shooting one handed with this, heck yeah. Here comes some KZ3 for me.

Haha, the orb at the end makes it look like it blows bubbles rather than opt as a gun for motion controlled gaming! :P Like a bubble gum bubble blower! Say that 10 times fast, eh??!

That looks like it could be cool! I'm already on the fence about prices for motion control.. Maybe that's why accessories weren't introduced the day that prices were confirmed. Now I'm looking at $80 for a Move, Nav and whatever the MoveGun will run..

Just jumped into a house for rent @ $1200/mo and my significant other lost her job.. My little boy is ready to come out into the world of recession any moment, too! Prices REALLY matter now!!

Hey regarding "Kinect" is it just me...or did M$ completely steal the name of one of the Eye Toy games to call it that?

Remember "Kinetic?" That one kind of ...I forget ...uh exercising game for the Eye Toy?

I mean seems damn similar. I mean jeeze talk about lame...not only did M$ have to completely steal the idea of the Eye Toy and call it their genius idea...but they had to name their "motion control" system after a game designed for the Eye Toy.

I don't know why but a bunch of people are criticizing it's design. To be honest...I find it quite sleek and "hot" if you will.

I think the only thing that throws people off is the big ball at the end.

But holding that thing would make me feel a lot like Stewie Griffin. Going around and creating absolute destruction.

A) it's not designed to look like a real gun (this is a plus point to me).
b) No one is making you buy one.
c) It's priced by whoever made it, not Sony
d) It looks like a pretty cool implementation of the concept as long as the trigger really works well.

just poking a lil fun into the design. but yeah, my concern is mostly if it simulated recoil as that would make it comparable to the arcade guns.

humor the ol' spidey, at least im not cracking the dildo joke. i now see it as a cool lightbulb. but yeah, i'll buy that cool lightbulb given a cooler packaged game instead of that sports game.

Yhea... it does look odd really... one can only imagine all the MOVE toys lined up neatly next the PS3 in the lounge or bedroom... and these great big bulbs at the end of each toy... multi coloured et al... LOL

I guess if they work well and the MOVE gamer is happy, that is all that counts... no matter how odd they look :)

ive never understood the point of these things.
move works fine, so why do i need to put it into a case shaped like a gun?
waste of money if you ask me.

anyway, i just read a article where a sony rep said that accuracy and responciveness is not what the customer wants, its all about fun games.
wow,i dont know which customer hes talking about but if move is inaccurate and unresponcive than im never getting it!
yeah, responciveness is not important, i mean whats more fun than pressing a button and nothing happening?

So, what do we think, guys. Is the Move going to be compatible with all shooters, or just a select few? It seems to me that it basically acts as the right analogue on DS3, but I may be underestimating what's required of the developers.

If it works with all of them, then this is a fantastic new era. I've never had this kind of gameplay outside of the arcades and I'm really looking forward to it.

It'll bring down the coolness of the whole for me.
and with coolness I mean the technology and with bringing it down I mean doing the same thing as Move party, making it look childish, even though you will be able to use it with games like Heavy Rain.

It does have a certain retro appeal to it I guess. They really need to program games to NOT make the bulb blue in shooters LOL. That does not go well with the red gun. I'm glad they're coming out with stuff like this - aiming a wand at the screen doesn't really appeal to me. I need a gun.

Hell...if they're going this far, they might as well motion capture your bodily motion and transfer this into the game. Slide in a FPS get two of these new gun-shaped attachments for akimbo conditions and game on. To run you have to jog in place, to turn you simply turn, to jump you really jump, and everything else should be on the controller. Actually, it sounds like this would be an awful idea. Scratch this, it's going in the lost-cause-and-soon-to-be-extinguished-bin.
