Threads Of Fate Hits PSN, Legend Of Mana Coming Soon
Many veteran role-playing fans really miss the old Squaresoft. But the good news is that you can get your old-school Square fix on the PSN in any number of ways.
Not only can you nab any Final Fantasy release on the original PlayStation, but there are several other gems available as downloadable PS1 classics on the Network. Another hit this week - Threads of Fate - and according to Andriasang citing the Japanese Twitter page for producer Shinji Hashimoto, Legend of Mana is next on the list. Released back in 1999, the game blended real-time combat with a unique form of world exploration (and creation), and although some Secret of Mana fans weren't necessarily thrilled, the game's appeal was undeniable. Using all hand-drawn artistry, it remains one of the most impressive visual accomplishments from any generation. It really is a must-play for RPG fans of a time long past, especially if you didn't get a chance to see it in action when it first released; it really was amazingly attractive.
We don't have an estimated release date but we're satisfied with "soon." So what other RPGs should be released to the PSN? How's about Star Ocean: The 2nd Story? It was an Enix title, was it not? ...or is that one already on the PSN?

I'm ashamed I never got to play it, except the demo. But I know it's a great game. Will get it.
Legend of Mana....
You know, it's the kind of game which is good if you've got a lot of time on your hands.
But man, that game....is just.....kinda boring :X Can really get to your nerves after a while too. Beautiful game though, but kinda weird...

If SE and Sony would put up Parasite Eve, Vagrant Story, Einhander, Chrono Cross, Anthology or Chronicles I would be so very happy, that's why I bought my psp 3 years ago afterall, for the ps1 classics, and all I've played are FF7 and lots of FF8.

Threads of Fate was fun! It wasn't anything to write home about, IMO, but it I didn't walk away from it. The only downfall to seeing these games become part of an ever-growing PSN hit-list is that it seems the trend is to simply reissue the games rather than do anything worth the coin, other than the gameplay itself.
My problem is getting over the fact that these games brutally pixelated and "stretched" on my 52" 16:9 tv. Shrinking the res is a bit aggrivating as it makes it harder for me to read a lot of what these games had - captions.
Oh well, something's better than twiddlin' thumbs!
