Quantum Theory Multiplayer Info

Now that we know Quantum Theory will finally be launching in September for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, it's probably time to learn more about the multiplayer details.

For the game that looks an awful lot like Gears of War, the multiplayer appeal should be obvious. And according to 1Up, Japanese gaming publications have started releasing the info onliners crave. Thus far, we know about three online multiplayer modes (there may be more), and they are as follows:

Dead or Alive: Players are divided into two teams and kill each other for points. Whichever side has the most points at the end of the best two-out-of-three match is the winner.

Executioner: Your basic deathmatch mode. Rounds last ten minutes, and again, whoever's racked up the most points at the end wins.

Guardian: In this mode, players are divided into two teams, each with a female "leader" character. You must fight the opposing team while keeping your leader from dying -- as long as she's alive, team members can respawn infinitely.

If you want an updated look at the game in question, head onto the PSN and download the new trailer. It's pretty darn stylish and "kill it" just might be the title's catch-phrase. Tecmo Koei insists it's not a carbon copy of Epic's fantastic franchise but the similarities are obvious...not that that's a bad thing, per se. EA flat-out admitted to emulating elements of God of War with their action slashfest, Dante's Inferno, and that turned out all right, no? There's nothing wrong with emulating greatness.

I don't like the game too much, aside from the point that they lied about being PS3 exclusive. The style of the design looks like the future portrayed in the 1990s. The style of the moving towers has too many similarities as moving alien tentacles as in Resident Evil series.

Maybe more gameplay and reviews will change my mind, but I'm probably not getting the game.

Well it's almost a good thing it's not a PS3 Exclusive, and here is why. This would fuel fanboy fires everywhere, X-Bots claiming it's our idea to steal Gears of War from them just like they thought we were copying HALO with Killzone.

Lol, gotta agree. Aside from the guns bit they were nothing alike. I want to love Killzone 2 so much. I just cant understand the feeling of being 300 lbs. and a soldier. That is a far cry from being realistic...(and that deadzone, yuck).

@WageSlaves,

Well, the Gears soldiers are 300-pound behemoths, plus gear, that run around like they are 150 pounds. How is that realistic?

Realistic is being a big guy carrying 100-pounds-plus of gear and not running around the war zone like Usain Bolt.

Do you really think real-life soldiers, who carry 100-pound-plus gear packs in the field, are running like sprinters?

I'm not saying all games should be realistic because how much fun would that be? But some realism is good.

I'm just commenting on your "realistic" comment.

I'm sorry but gears of war has never had any appeal to me and so the fact that this looks so much like it automatically makes me turn the other way.

The only positive thing I can see for this is that, maybe some people won't buy an xbox just to play gears, cause now its copy is on ps3.

If this thing pulls down solid reviews I'll wait a year and get it cheap. Sorry that's about the best I can do. I do like TPS though, and there aren't enough of em.

no offense, but the ps3 needs a gears of war exclusive . and please don't compare gears to uncharted, there two (in my opinion) completely different games. can sony get any aaa exclusives anymore that doesn't include sports, racing, and or a game that later requires a monthly service fee?

I'm going out on a limb here, but I think ffxiv is being delayed on ps3 because Square still wants to make a 360 version. The ps3 version might even be close to being finished, but square wants both to be released at once (assuming a 360 version is in the works). I'll bet they're still discussing things with Mircosoft about XBL (the only thing keeping the game from being released on the 360) and if things don't go as planned (again assuming a 360 version is in the works) that project gets cancelled and the ps3 version gets released sooner. This is all just an assumption, but if this is the case, this could be ff xiii all over again :P

I couldve sworn that I've read that this game wouldn't have multiplayer (this was before VanQuished was even announced)

Even though this game went from June 2009 to September 2010, I just got a feeling this game won't be as good as gears.
