Vanquish GameStop Pre-Order Bonus, Release Date
It could be one of the bigger surprises of 2010; we do have faith in the development team and the game certainly looks entertaining.
Sega of America has announced details regarding the exclusive GameStop pre-order incentives for Platinum's third-person sci-fi shooter, Vanquish. If the footage and information you've seen thus far has convinced you this title needs to be played, you can pre-order from GameStop now and receive exclusive access to a Tri-Weapon Pack, available via the PlayStation Store or the Xbox Live Marketplace. The guns in the pack are the Boost Machine Gun (an early experimental weapon with great power and high speed), Anti-Armor Pistol (it fires a special penetrative shell to bypass the armor of stronger enemies) and Laser Cannon (the most powerful weapon available for infantry). You could use these...
This announcement also came with a finalized release date: October 19. Yeah, October is already shaping up to be yet another busy month; for whatever reason, it's almost the month in which to release big titles.
This footage from the E3 floor doesn't look too bad, and we have to remember that the PS3 version could be the best one; Platinum used Sony's machine as the lead development platform...quite the opposite thing they did with Bayonetta. Anyway, here's hoping Vanquish turns out well.

I need a bit of "me" time in a game so I'm able soak & savor it's graphical achievements & environmental palette.
I couldn't even imagine how bad it would've been if masterpieces like MGS4, Uncharted, or GOW were a done in this constant clothes dryer hyper spin-cycle.

LOL! Thank you for posting that. I was going to but couldn't figure out how to without sounding like I was making an excuse for lazy developers.
I think that super fast, blurry action in games is definitely a strategy for coping with a high resolution game that has too much going on to keep the frame rate high. Imagine if you're developing a game and you are having trouble getting 60fps at 720p resolution with all the effects you want to use. Perhaps you can hit 60fps if you drop the texture resolution and some of the subtle effects in favor of motion blur. No one will ever know, and you can put the full resolution and effects back in in the slower, less 'fast' sections of the game.
Kind of the way that WipeoutHD renders at 1080 but can dynamically vary the resolution to keep the frame rate high. That's an example of a developer being smart to deliver the best possible visuals at all times.
Of course I could also imagine a developer deciding to apply a good dose of blur and bloom to their graphics in order to hide poor anti-aliasing and overcome frame rate problems by allowing them to skip certain effects and invisibly down-res the textures...but then, perhaps I am a cynic.

Haven't these devs ever heard of color? Blurry butt sliding action as a silver/grey metal guy, sliding on silver/grey walkways, surrounded by silver/grey buildings, while shooting at silver/grey robot. Ugh.

remember bayonetta released a few months in Japan before it did everywhere else.
anyway, meh i really dont care about this game.
bayonetta was just so flashy, boring, repetetive and stupid.
plus sega have not released one good game this gen, not one!
yakuza 3 was close but all the removed content, and babysitting ruined it!
the only shooter im interested in this year is crysis 2, next year is bulletstorm, RAGE, red faction armageddon and bodycount.

What is different about KZ3? Well the most obvious part is the dramatically dynamic environments. We all know how stunning the graphics were in KZ2 even on the dull and drab planet of Helghan in an urban setting, but now snowscapes? Clearly GG is demonstrating the immense power of the PS3 and showing off the stunning graphics. But now, the dialog will be bearable, new and improved weapons, 3D compatible, PS Move compatible. Out right amazing if you ask me. Only Crysis 2? I can agree that Rage is looking very well but Bulletstorm over KZ3? BulletStorm looks absolutely mindless and uninspired, I just cannot wrap my head around the games concept, its beyond lame.
This is the same lesson most people have learned by now, but just to refresh your mind.

Simply my opinion, and I know that the suit is supposed to be a little over the top, but the sliding around on your knees creating a torrent of sparks? honestly, I think its a little TOO cheesy.
Theres alot of of potential here, but it seems (to me) that the negatives are really slapping me in the face right now..
visually, its almost overly chaotic with far too few colors, and the movement seems too slow on foot and to unpredictable during your weird, metal knee slide.

Games like these are why I read reviews. No pre-order here thanks. Let's see what people say first.
